    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a roll cross mill which is inexpensive and with which working and attaching is facilitated by lightening and simplifying a roll cross mechanism. SOLUTION: In the roll cross mill which is provided with the roll cross mechanism, the roll cross mechanism is provided with a supporting block 1 which is provided to be attachably and detachably fixed on the side of a housing between the side faces of roll chocks 33, 34 and opposed faces of the housing 36, a square guide hole 3 which is provided so as to penetrate the supporting block 1 in the direction of a rolling line, a square slide nut 4 provided so as to slide into the square slide hole 3, a screw shaft 9 for moving the square slide nut the tip side of which is screwed in the square slide nut 4 and the rear side of which is rotatably supported to the sides of the housing 36 and the supporting block 1 and which is connected to a rotational driving system 1 and a pressing member 19 which is supported so as to follow up the displacement of the side faces of the roll chocks in the center part on the tip side of the square slide nut and a conventional crosshead or the like is unnecessitated.

    • PURPOSE:To permit sure joining of band-shaped sheet material during rolling and to improve the joined state thereof by providing carriages which are self-travelable in synchronization with the pass speed of the band-shaped sheet materials and joining the tail end of the preceding band-shaped sheet material and the top end of the succeeding band-shaped sheet material to each other with a joining machine. CONSTITUTION:This flying joining device is constituted of the the front traveling carriage 11, the rear traveling carriage 11', a connecting device 12, a flying driving device 13, the joining machine 14 and clamping devices 15, 15'. The flying joining device is set to a prescribed position on an intermediate roller table 5. The pass speed of the succeeding band-shaped sheet material 3b is then controlled by a speed controller to press the top end thereof to the tail end of the preceding band-shaped sheet material 3a and to synchronize said speed with the pass speed of the preceding band-shaped sheet material 3a. While the carriages 11, 11' are made to make self-traveling by the device 13, the joining center X of the joining machine 14 and the joining ends of the two materials 3a, 3b are aligned and the materials 3a, 3b are joined by the machine 14. The sure joining of the band-shaped sheet materials is executed and the joining state is improved by such device.

    • PURPOSE:To provide the titled quick cooler which cools quickly and continuously a rolling material with a high heat transfer rate by making movable upward and downward an upper header part and permitting the change over to an optimum cooling method, i.e., slit laminar method of water jet method. CONSTITUTION:A driving motor 7 is started to move upward the upper header part 6 slightly before the front end of the rolling material starts passing through the cooler. The position is controlled to set exactly the upper header part to the standby position for the upward movement by the detection signal of a PLG15 disposed at the end of a motor shaft in this stage. The motor 7 is run backward and the header part 6 is moved downward by the above- mentioned mechanism so as to be set exactly at the position for forming cooling water when a coiler begins to coil the front end of the rolling material 1 upon completion of the passage of the front end of the rolling material. The header part 6 is again moved upward and is set in the standby position in the stage of passing through of the rear end of the rolling material. The repetition of a series of upward and downward movement cycles of the header part 6 is thus made possible by the above-mentioned lifting mechanism. A cooling method using high-velocity water jet flow is adopted for cooling of the rolling material 1 in the position for forming the cooling water and a cooling method using a slit laminar flow from a slit nozzle is adopted in the standby position for the upward movement.

    • PURPOSE:To advance easily a sheet stock during rolling by making vertical rolls drivable and to prevent the side faces of sheet stock from causing scratch es, etc. by connecting an impeller to the rotating axis of each vertical roll and providing a nozzle for rotating each impeller by blowing a fluid against it. CONSTITUTION:Plural vertical rolls 24 are rotatably installed in conformity with the inside guide face of a side plate 22, and impellers 26 are attached to their rotating axes 25 respectively. Nozzles 27 are provided adjacently to the impellers 26 respectively to connect a hose 28 to each nozzle 27. In a side guide device formed in such manner; a sheet stock arrived at the guide device after moving along its advancing direction A is smoothly fed to a rolling mill by the vertical rolls 24 rotated previously by blowing high-pressure fluid from nozzles 27 against the impellers 26. Then the end faces of sheet stock are prevented from causing scratches and seizure, and the wears of vertical rolls are also effectively reduced.

In ordinary rolling, the heads of the roll-crossing device are set as the parallel position according to the position where respective rolls stabilize, or are set by shifting the head at one side from the parallel position by a gap portion between the head and the roll chock.
