    • The present invention provides a differential gear capable of constantly ensuring a stable differential motion restricting force even in the case of a low rotational speed. In the present invention, when there occurs a difference in rotational speed between output side rotary elements, rollers are allowed to roll while being in contact with the confronting faces of the input side and output side rotary elements. The rollers move along rotational trajectories of the output side rotary elements while being restricted by a holder element from rolling toward the direction inclined by a predetermined angle relative to the rotational trajectories of the output side rotary elements. Thus, there occurs a frictional force between the rollers and the contact faces therewith, which results in a resistance to restrict the differential motion, At that time, the rollers generate a sliding friction in the course of rolling, thereby always ensuring a stable frictional force based on a dynamic friction even at a low rotational speed.

    • A small, inexpensive, comparatively simple differential gear, having reliable revolution difference restricting effects includes a rotary casing and a retainer having a common rotation axis. Torque is transmitted to a groove of a pair of rotary members via rolling elements so the rotary members rotate with the casing. When a revolution difference occurs between the rotary members, rolling elements retained in guide slots of the retainer roll along the grooves of the rotary members so there is reciprocal movement within the range of the guide slots. When a force causing a revolution difference between the rotary members is applied from the side of only one of the rotary members, the resulting reaction force restricts the revolution difference between the pair of rotary members. This is because the rolling elements which come to the following side when the revolution difference exists trail the groove which comes to the leading side when a revolution difference occurs in response to their own movements. Reliable torque-sensitive revolution difference restricting effects are provided without a special mechanism to obtain a revolution difference restricting effect.

    • This invention intends to provide a smaller sized and low priced differential gear of a comparatively simple structure wherefrom reliable revolution difference restricting effects can be obtained. Namely, when a casing and a retainer are rotated around their axis, such torque is transmit to the groove of each rotary member via the rolling elements and the pair of rotary members rotate together with the casing. When a revolution difference occurs between said pair of rotary members, rolling elements retained in the guide slots of said retainer rolls along the grooves of said pair of rotary members to make reciprocal movement within the range of said guide slots. At this time, when a force which causes revolution difference between said pair of rotary members is applied from the side of only one of said pair of rotary members, since the rolling elements which come to the following side when revolution difference is occurring work to let trail the groove which comes to the leading side when revolution difference is occurring to their own movements, the reaction force occurring here works as a resistance to restrict the revolution difference between said pair of rotary members. This invention can therefore provide reliable torque-sensitive revolution difference restricting effects without need for addition of a special mechanism to obtain the revolution difference restricting effect.
