    • A dental coping includes a partially circumferential rib or other engagement feature formed on the coronal portion of the interior surface of the coping that removably engages a groove formed in the corresponding surface of an abutment, implant, analog or other component and enables tactile verification (such as a snap feel) that the coping is properly positioned on the component. The engagement feature may include one or more tapered surfaces. The coping is optionally provided with an interior alignment surface that corresponds to an alignment surface formed on the exterior surface of the dental component, as well as having an optional external alignment feature that enables external visual and tactile assistance in aligning the internal alignment surfaces of the coping and component. The coping also may include one or more chamfered or cylindrical surfaces to provide a precision fit of the coping on the component.

    • Disclosed is a kit useful in connection with the preparation of dental prostheses and including an implant-abutment analogue and a burnout coping. The analogue generally corresponds to an implant and abutment in the jaw of a patient. A burnout coping is secured to the analogue for the preparation of the dental prosthetic. In one embodiment, the analogue includes a connection feature and the coping includes a mating connection feature, the connection feature on the coping positioned to provide a remnant on the dental prosthetic prepared thereform that does not interfere with the placement of the prosthetic onto an implant and abutment in the jaw of a patient. In another embodiment, not mutually exclusive with respect to the first embodiment, the coping comprises first and second portions that are movable with respect to one another and sized respectively to engage first and second portions of an analogue.

    • A driver for implanting a dental implant into a jaw bone of a patient includes a shaft having a distal and a proximal end. The distal end of the shaft is constructed and arranged to be driven by a tool to drive the implant into the jaw. A multi-faceted locking disc is disposed at the proximal end of the shaft for engaging and disengaging a relief groove in the implant. A drive dog is attached to the shaft in proximity to the locking disc. A multi-faceted sleeve is disposed on the shaft between the drive dog and the locking disc. The shaft is rotatable with respect to the sleeve to align and misalign the facets of the locking disc with the facets of the sleeve to engage and disengage the implant.
