    • A method is provided for ensuring mobility to a mobile host in a wireless network with multi protocol label switching deployed in the packet switched core network. A Mobile Host has a packet switched connection via a bidirectional Multi-Protocol Label Switching data tunnel from a first ingress node of the core network serving the service area of a radio access network domain, where the Mobile Host is currently located, to an egress node of the core network. When the mobile host moves to a service area of a second radio access network domain, the node of attachment serving the second radio access network domain is informed about the Internet Protocol address of the egress node of the existing data tunnel together with respective LSP tunnel parameters and sets up a new bidirectional Multi-­Protocol Label Switching tunnel to the egress node specified by the Internet Protocol Address. During this handover, the Mobile Host does not change its own Internet Protocol address.

    • The invention relates to methods for detaching a mobile terminal from a mobile communication network. Furthermore, the invention also relates to a mobile terminal and a mobility management entity that perform these methods. The invention is inter alia applicable to a 3GPP LTE-A system following the Evolved Packet System (EPS) architecture. The invention proposes that the detach procedure of a mobile terminal is triggered by the mobile terminal being transferred into idle state. The mobility management entity can trigger the detach procedure in response to this event. The detach procedure may be deferred by a given time span. A detach timer may be configured in the mobile terminal and the mobility entity for this purpose, and upon expiry of the detach timer in the mobile terminal and the mobility management entity, both silently delete the context information related to the mobile terminal's user plane and control plane to detach the mobile terminal.

    • The invention relates to methods for (re)attaching a UE to a 3GPP access network and for storing bearer context information of a UE upon handover from a 3GPP access network to a non-3GPP access network. Furthermore, the invention relates to 3GPP network nodes, such as mobility management entity, serving gateway and packed data gateway, and a UE that are specially adapted to perform these methods. In order to decrease of the delay time during (re)attachment of a UE to a 3GPP access network, the invention proposes to maintain context information on data bearer(s) of a UE within the 3GPP access network and the UE, while the UE is not attached to the 3GPP access network, so that data bearer context information for this UE is available and can be used for the (re)activation of data bearer(s) once the UE is attaching to the 3GPP access network again.
