    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device capable of preventing the flaw and contamination of a disk surface and obtaining a high-quality RF signal.
      SOLUTION: This device is capable of reading data from an optical disk 102 having a plurality of information recording layers including a first information recording layer having a relatively small distance from a disk surface, and a second information recording layer having a relatively large distance from the disk surface. The device is provided with a focus control unit 117 for positioning the converging point of optical beams on the optional information recording layer of an optical disk 102, a tracking control unit 118 for positioning the converging point of the optical beams on the predetermined track on the information recording layer, and a gain switching unit 108 capable of changing gain characteristics of at least one of the focus control unit 117 and the tracking control unit 118. The gain switching unit 108 sets a gain cross-over frequency for reading data from the first information recording layer at a value lower than that for reading data from the second information recording layer.

This controller is further provided with an adjustable clock output section 123 to output a plurality of clock signals with different frequencies, and a control section 112 to calculate and output signals which shows a controlled variable, by receiving signals from the optical head which shows the amount of deflection from a predetermined target value, and by calculating based on the signals which shows the amount of deflection, in order to servocontrol the light beam of the optical disk device. Based on recording multiple-speed and/or reproducing multiple-speed when the recording and/or reproducing operation of the optical disk device is performed, the adjustable clock output section 123 modifies the frequencies of the clock signals, and the control section 112 calculates synchronizing with the clock signals of the adjustable clock output section.
