    • A transport device includes a support base, at least two spiral drives, at least one drive device, a control device and a power source. Each one of the at least two spiral drives are preferably driven by a single drive device. However, a single drive device could drive the at least two spiral drives through some type of drive system. The at least two spiral drives are rotatably retained on the support base. The at least two spiral drives are rotated through any suitable drive system. The power source supplies power to the at least one drive device through the control device. The control device controls the rotation and the amount of power sent to the at least one drive device. An object to be transported is placed on the support base. However, multiple transport devices may be attached to multiple sides of the object.

    • A method and apparatus for remedial treatment of soil with volatile contaminants includes a rotating drum having a firebox projecting a flame into the discharge end of the drum. An inlet conveyor enters soil which tumbles through the drum atmosphere which is recycled through the firebox and drum for contaminant incineration in the drum. The recycled atmosphere moves in a circular path about the outer edge of the furner flame to form an annular flame projecting into the drum. A part of the drum recycled atmosphere processed through a final burn box to destroy remaining contaminants, and a cooler for cooling the atmosphere. A separator connected to the cooler separates solids and moisture to discharge a contaminant free atmosphere. The temperature of the discharged soil and the recycled atmosphere from the drum as well as the final processed atmosphere is monitored for controlling the system operation. The several mechanical and electrical components are monitored to provide selected system control. A portable unit includes a mobile base frame with the drum with the attached firebox and burn box mounted side-by-side. A U-shaped cooler pipe and a horizontal centrifugal separator overlying the drum and box. A recycle pipe and blower is located within the cooler piping to form an over-the-road mobile unit. Special components and interconnections are shown and described.

    • A rotary drying system for particulate material includes a rotary dryer of the multiple pass drum construction with a horizontal axis of rotation. A furnace is coupled to one end and a horizontally disposed centrifugal separator of the scroll type is coupled to the opposite end. A small cyclone separator is coupled to the scroll separator and connected in a closed loop system with the scroll separator for continuous recycling air therethrough. The rotary dryer has essentially the largest vertical dimension and therefore the profile of the system is minimized. The rotary dryer is formed with an inner cylinder of a conical taper with a relatively small inlet end and progressively increasing passageway diameter to a large discharge end coupled to an intermediate passageway between the inner cylinder and an intermediate constant diameter cylinder. The intermediate passageway continuously expands in cross-section to a final discharge passageway formed by an outer concentric cylinder. Replaceable wear plate units support one end of the intermediate and inner cylinders for limited relative movement. The passageways are proportioned to establish a volumetric distribution for optimum drying characteristic and temperature drop to prevent product degradation and to produce efficient drying.

    • A particulate separator of the concurrent flow type includes an inner cylinder mounted concentrically within a tapered conical outer cylinder which is closed at the outer return end. A fan unit is secured within the return end of the outer cylinder to draw air inwardly through the center cylinder, impart a centrifugal force thereon and imparting a tangential spin to the air moving outwardly and then rearwardly and back through the outer conical cylinder. The particulate matter within the fluid moves outwardly to the periphery of the outer cylinder as a result of centrifugal forces. The tangential spin imparted to the air cause the air to move in spiral return path with the conical cylinder establishing a decreasing cross section. The discharge end of the tapered cylinder includes a main air discharge outlet encircling the inlet cylinder for discharge of the clean air and an outer annular skimmer including an inner parting wall separating the outer layer of air adjacent the outer cylinder annular opening for separate removal of the particulate air stream adjacent to the periphery of the cylinder.
