    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve arc stability and to control heat input by making the sectional area of a piece of solid metal which is formed of a series of separate segments respectively having effective outside diameters and selected volumes and is constituted by connecting these segments by interconnecting bridging elements larger than the sectional area of the solid metal in the bridging elements.
