    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and a method for determining a water soluble solution (for example, control solution) which does not contain blood in a discriminating manner from a blood sample. SOLUTION: In one embodiment, this method measures a plurality of transient currents by an instrument, electrically connected to an electrochemical test piece by using a test piece. The transient current is used to determine which of the blood sample or the water-soluble solution that does not contain the blood a sample is, based on at least two characteristics (for example, the amount of an existing interference substance and a reaction rate). The method can also include a method for calculating a determination criterion, based on at least the two characteristics. This specifications provide various aspects of the system for determining the blood sample in a discriminating manner from the water soluble solution not containing the blood.
