    • A system and method Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) method in a multi-mode wireless processing system. The method can include loading an input vector into an input buffer, initializing a second counter and a variable N, where N=log2 (input vector size), and s is the value of the second counter, performing an FFT stage, and comparing s to N and performing additional FFT stages until s=N. Performing the FFT stage can include performing vector operations on data in the input buffer and sending results to an output buffer, the data in the input buffer comprising a plurality of segments, advancing the value of the second counter; and switching roles of the input and output buffers. The vector operations can include performing Radix-4 FFT vector operations on the four input data at a time and multiplying the resulting output vectors with a Twiddle factor.

    • A musical instrument is comprised of a keyboard, a strummer, and a processor. The keyboard and strummer send event messages to the processor whenever a key is pressed, or a string is plucked, respectively. At the time a string is plucked, the processor dynamically assigns a note to the string, based on which keys are depressed. The dynamic note assignment ensures that the top, or a predefined string is part of any selected chord or scale passage. In response to strummer and keyboard events, the processor selects different timbres or articulations of the note including: clean, thumb harmonics, muted, hammer-on, or pull-off. The processor plays back recorded samples or synthesized tones to emulate the sounds of different playing techniques on an acoustic, electric, bass guitar or other stringed instruments.

    • A music notation system for a two dimensional keyboard consists of a five line staff per hand, where lines represent black keys and spaces represent white keys. The lines are vertically oriented, and spaced to resemble the pattern of black and white keys in an octave of piano keys. Note-octave symbols are placed on a line or space, indicating which column of keys the desired note is in. A note-octave symbol graphically indicates which row of octaves the desired note is in by the location of a note head on the stem of the note-octave symbol. A horizontal row in the notation represents an instant of time, at a particular subdivision of the beat. Solid horizontal lines indicate measure boundaries. Dashed horizontal lines indicate beat boundaries. The number of subdivisions of a given beat is indicated by the number of rows between the beat boundaries.
