    • The present invention relates to a disk driving method to prevent collision of an optical pickup's objective lens with a high-density disk such as a blu-ray disk in the event that the disk is placed upside down in a disk device. In the present invention, a focusing operation for a lead-in area of the disk is conducted first when it is placed. While focusing operation is conducted a first signal produced by a reflected beam from the surface of the disk is detected. If a second signal produced by a reflected beam from a recording layer of the disk is not detected within a preset time after the first signal is detected, the focusing operation is stopped immediately to prevent collision of an optical pickup's objective lens with a high-density disk.
