    • The present invention relates to a method for updating the system information of a broadband wireless connection system that transmits and receives data through a superframe that includes a primary superframe header (P-SFH) and a secondary superframe header (S-SFH). The method comprises the steps of: encoding an information element (IE) of the P-SFH which contains the scheduling information of the S-SFH and a change counter indicating changes to the system information included in the S-SFH; and transmitting to a terminal the superframe which includes the encoded IE of the P-SFH and the system change information. The change counter included in the superframe is transmitted after increasing the counter value according to changes to the system information. A message for indicating the application of the changed system information is included in a certain frame, then transmitted to the terminal.

If the first preamble is present in said received data frame, it is interpreted as a data frame from said first carrier, and initial network access is attempted; if only said second preamble is present in said received data frame, this is interpreted as a data frame from said second carrier, and initial network access is not attempted.

    • The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for transmitting and receiving data in a multi-carrier communications system.
