    • The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an optical filter for a stereoscopic image display device, which involves forming an alignment film having different alignment directions in micro areas through a single continuous photo alignment process. The method comprises the steps of: forming a polymer film on a substrate; placing, on the polymer film, a pattern mask in which a light-transmitting area and a light-shielding area are staggered and alternately formed in the vertical and horizontal directions to enable different types of polarized light to selectively pass, placing, on the pattern mask, a polarizing plate having two areas for enabling two different types of polarized light to pass therethrough, and irradiating ultraviolet rays onto the polymer film from above the polarizing plate to form alignment film having different alignment directions in micro areas of the polymer film; and forming a phase delay layer on the alignment film. The method according to the present invention provides different orientations in micro areas of the polymer film using one pattern mask sheet and through a single continuous light irradiation process, thereby simplifying the process of forming the alignment film having different light alignment directions in micro areas of the polymer film. Thus, the yield rate and productivity in manufacturing the optical filter for the stereoscopic image display device can be improved.

    • The present invention relates to an ECB-LCD device comprising: a liquid crystal panel including a liquid crystal cell having a first substrate, a second substrate, and a liquid crystal which is interposed between the first substrate and the second substrate and which has a positive dielectric anisotropy, wherein the liquid crystal cell has a cell gap of 1 to 5 ìm and is driven in an ECB mode; a first polarizing element which is placed on the first substrate, and which has a first absorbing axis; a second polarizing element which is placed beneath the second substrate, and which has a second absorbing axis; a first liquid crystal film interposed between the first substrate and the first polarizing element; and a second liquid crystal film interposed between the second substrate and the second polarizing element. The first liquid crystal film includes a first base, and a first liquid crystal layer which is formed by splay-aligning nematic liquid crystals on one side of the first base such that a maximum tilt angle from an in-plane direction to a thickness direction is 20° to 90°. The second liquid crystal film includes a second base, and a second liquid crystal layer formed by horizontally aligning nematic liquid crystals on one side of the second base.
