摘要： A wheeled hospital bed is removably connectible to a drive unit. The bed comprises a plurality of articulated frame sections, a plurality of driven shafts, a linkage interconnecting the driven shafts and the frame sections for articulating the latter in response to rotation of the driven shafts, and a first guide structure. The drive unit includes a plurality of motors and drive shafts, and a second guide structure arranged to interact with the first guide structure of the bed when the bed is merged with the drive unit in order to orient the bed and drive units such that the drive and driven shafts are mutually aligned. The drive and driven shafts include a self-coupling mechanism for establishing a drive connection therebetween when in a merged condition. The drive unit may be anchored to the floor, or may be supported solely by the bed. In the former case, the bed can be rotatable about a vertical axis relative to the drive unit while maintaining connection therewith. The drive unit carries a pair of side guards which are arranged to straddle the bed. The side guards are connectible to an articulatable section of the bed so as to be movable therewith.

摘要： An extendable and retractable computer mounting arm for mounting a computer to the wall of a patient treatment room allowing in the retracted position the computer to be stored close to the wall and in the extended position electronic information relating to the patient to be accessed through the computer at a point of patient care zone adjacent the patient but spaced from the wall, including a computer mounting bracket, a wall mounting bracket for mounting with respect to the wall of the patient treatment room, support arms extending between and pivotally connecting the computer mounting bracket and the wall mounting bracket permitting the computer mounting bracket to be articulated between the retracted and extended positions, a pneumatic spring to assist in extending and retracting the mounting arm, and a spring mount for mounting the wall bracket with respect to the wall permitting the wall mounting bracket to flex with respect to the wall on the imposition of a force to the computer mounting arm to prevent the arm from being accidentally dislodged from the wall.

摘要： A hospital bed supported on a wheeled base, and a ventilator supported on a wheeled cart and docked to the base of the bed, the combination of ventilator and bed capable of being rolled as a single unit. The ventilator cart includes a wheeled base, and supports connected to the base for supporting a ventilator, with the supports providing for selective raising and lowering of the ventilator. The hospital bed base is wheeled and has a generally Y-shaped base frame. The outspread arms of the Y-shaped base frame receive the ventilator cart so that the two may be docked together. The ventilator when docked to the hospital bed base falls within the footprint of the bed as projected downwardly onto the floor. A latch secures the ventilator to the bed base. A disabling switch disables the high/low function of the bed preventing the bed from being lowered downwardly onto the ventilator. A power supply mounted to the bed base provides for uninterrupted operation of the ventilator. A care cart docks to the foot end of the bed and within the bed's footprint and supplies DC electricity, oxygen and air to the ventilator when the ventilator is docked to the head end of the bed. The care cart has a wheeled base, a battery housing on the base, a support frame for supporting air and oxygen tanks and structure for connecting the cart to the bed base. A motorized dolly is incorporated into another embodiment of the care cart to provide motorized transport of ventilator, bed and cart. Apparatus for motorized transport of the hospital bed and care cart docks to the head end of the bed and has a drive wheel, a motor propelling the drive wheel, a joy stick type potentiometer for controlling the speed and direction of the drive wheel and handles for grasping the apparatus and maneuvering the apparatus and the hospital bed. Gas springs are actuated by the bed when the motorized transport apparatus and bed are docked together for exerting a downward force on the drive wheel to reduce the tendency of the drive wheel to slip. The apparatus falls within the footprint of the bed.

The table, which in its preferred embodiment, is a hospital overbed table, is equipped with upper and lower horizontal tray surfaces. The surfaces are movable with respect to each other and may be positioned to expose the top surface alone or the upper and lower surfaces. The upper and lower surfaces may also be moved in unison to expose storage cavities in a base supporting the tray surfaces. A gas spring mechanism permits easy adjustment of the vertical positioning of the overbed table and provides a mechanism for securely locking the overbed table in place when in use.

摘要： A hospital bed has a base with casters, a main frame mounted above the base, a patient support platform movably mounted on the main frame including a leg panel, and a toilet module disposed beneath the patient support platform and normally concealed by the leg panel. The platform moves toward a head end of the bed retracting the leg panel from over the toilet module exposing the toilet module for use. The leg panel pivots downwardly after exposing the toilet module, and a head panel pivots upwardly to configure the hospital bed into a chair position. Bolsters are located outboard of each lateral edge of the leg panel and provide side support to a patient moving from the platform to the toilet module and back. A pair of pivoting footboard halves or foot gates are operably mounted to the platform and retract with the platform to between the foot and head end casters. Downward forces applied to the foot gates when utilized as hand rails are applied intermediate the foot and head end casters. A frame is mounted to the bed and a travelling harness is mounted to the frame and is adapted to be secured to a patient to provide security and stability as the patient egresses from the bed and moves onto the toilet module.
