    • An encryption and decryption apparatus includes a round key generator generating at least one round key for iterative operations in each of a plurality of rounds using an input key for one of the encryption and decryption; an initial round key adder receiving a plurality of divided parts of an input data, consecutively receiving a plurality of parts of an initial round key which is output from the round key generator for an initial round and corresponds to each of the divided input data, and adding the input data and the corresponding part of the initial round key; a first operator receiving a first data which is output from the initial round key adder and a part of the round key which is output from the round key generator and performing operations for one of the encryption and decryption; a second operator receiving a second data which is output from the initial round key adder and another part of the round key which is output from the round key generator, and performing operations for one of the encryption and decryption; and a register part temporarily storing the first data which is output from the first operator and the second data which is output from the second operator, inputting the first and second data to the first and second operators, respectively, for operations of a next round among the plurality of the rounds, and outputting an encrypted or decrypted data when the plurality of the rounds are completed.

    • A portable composite apparatus and a method of controlling photographing modes. The portable composite apparatus includes a decision unit to decide whether current time information is included in a time range corresponding to a current photographing mode by referring to a prestored time information table, and an operation control unit to change priority levels of photographing modes based on the decision result from the decision unit and the time information table. As photographing modes of the portable composite apparatus are prioritized differently based on the current time information and the time information table, user convenience and expedition of operating (or setting) a desired photographing mode can be enhanced.

    • The present invention relates to an improved method for performing modular exponentiation to a fixed base element. The method includes exponentiating a first digital input signal g by a second digital input signal R, where g is a fixed signal unique to a cryptographic system and R is a randomly generated digital signal, to compute a third digital signal g.sup.R. The exponentiating includes pre-computing and storing a plurality of values depending only upon the fixed signal g in a plurality of memory locations within a computing device and then speeding up the computation of g.sup.R using the stored values. The invented exponentiation method can substantially reduce the amount of computation required to compute the value for g.sup.R. Exponentiation methods according to embodiments of the present invention may be used in a variety of cryptographic systems, e.g., Schnorr identification scheme, Digital Signature Standard (DSS), and Diffie-Hellman key agreement scheme, etc.
