    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method for a polymer having a controlled molecular weight distribution capable of being preferably used for a dispersant, a cement admixture and a cement composition, and to provide a dispersant, a cement admixture and a cement composition using the polymer obtained by the manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for the polymer, an unsaturated monomer (M) containing an unsaturated monomer (I-M) having a polyoxyalkylene chain is polymerized in the presence of a polymerization initiator system containing a metal complex (A) having ruthenium as a central metal, α-halogenocarbonyl compound and/or α-halogenocarboxylate (B). In the obtained polymer, since the molecular weight distribution is narrow, a high molecular weight portion for coagulating the cement and a low molecular weight portion not contributing to cement dispersion performance become less and a molecular weight portion contributing to the cement dispersion performance becomes much, the cement dispersion performance is enhanced.
