    • [Object] To provide a cutting tool with a layer that is not prone to peeling and has a long life, even when used in high speed and intermittent cutting processes. [Solution] A cutting tool (8) is formed by laminating, in order, a TiN (2) layer, a TiCN layer (3), and an Al 2 O 3 layer (5) on the surface of a cemented carbide substrate (1). The TiN layer (2) and the TiCN layer (3) contain Nb, and in glow discharge optical emission spectroscopy (GDS analysis), the content ratio of Nb at the center of the TiCN layer (3) in the thickness direction is at least 0.1 mass%, and the content ratio of Nb at the center of the Al 2 O 3 layer (5) is not more than 0.05 mass%.
