    • A sheet processing device in the form of an offset stacker, a sheet fence (103, 104) is provided on a side of sheets (S) to be processed stacked on a stack tray (3) opposite from a jogger (101, 102) so that the sheet fence accurately defines a final offset position of the sheets. When a transient offset position at which the sheets are stacked on the stack tray varies from one sheet to another, the side edges of sheets selected for offset stacking can be lined up without fail owing to the jogging action of the jogger and the supporting action of the sheet fence. A pair of joggers may be arranged on either side of the sheets, along with a pair of corresponding sheets fences on the opposing sides. The jogger and sheet fence on a same side may be supported by a common moveable frame (107, 108).

    • Disclosed is a bookbinding device. In a bookbinding device, a recording sheet includes at its one end a plurality of binding holes formed so as to penetrate through the recording sheet, and the recording sheets are bundled to be bound at the plurality of binding holes. The bookbinding device includes a plurality of annular binders corresponding to the binding holes. A part of the annular binder is inserted into the binding hole to be engaged, and by virtue of the insertion of the annular binder into the corresponding binding hole, the sheet bundle is bound to be provided as a booklet. The annular binder includes a pair of binding members. The respective ends of the binding members are engaged with each other, whereby the binding members are unified. The binding members are disposed so as to be aligned and constitute respectively binding member units which can be separated one by one. The pairs of the binding members are located in sequence so as to correspond to the binding holes to be pushed and moved, and, thus, to be inserted through the binding holes. The respective ends of the binding members are then engaged with each other, whereby the binding members are unified.

    • A sheet sorter delivers sheets introduced seriatim from a host unit such as a copier onto a plurality of removable stationary sheet receiving trays through its pivotable sheet guide and discharge mechanism having four pivotal axes. The sheet guide and discharge mechanism is pivotably supported at its one end on two fixed pivotal axes so that the mechanism can be pivotally swung up and down about the two fixed pivotal axes. At the other end of the sheet guide and discharge mechanism, which is unsupported, are disposed the other two pivotal axes and sheet discharge rollers. The swinging motion of the mechanism is achieved by a Geneva drive mechanism including a first driving motor so that the level of the sheet discharge roller is sequentially shifted to be aligned with each of the tray levels and the sheets are seriatim sorted onto the respective trays. The sorter has a second driving motor for driving the sheet discharge rollers. The axis of the sheet discharge rollers makes a circular-arc movement about one of the fixed axes and the front edges (the sheet entry side) of the trays are disposed along the locus of the circular-arc movement of the sheet discharge rollers so that the sheet discharge rollers stay juxtaposed with the front edge of the corresponding tray at each of the sheet discharge stages.
