    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an earth retaining wall to surely bear horizontal forces during an earthquake, by suppressing deformation of the earth retaining wall both when the horizontal force directed in the directions of approaching and receding from a base acts on the earth retaining wall above the base of a building foundation.SOLUTION: A building foundation includes: a base which is provided perpendicularly to an earth retaining wall below a surface of the ground; at least one upper rod-like member which is disposed at an interval upward from the center of a thickness-direction of the base inside the base, is horizontally elongated via an end of the base from the base, and has its leading end fixed to the earth retaining wall; and at least one lower rod-like member which is disposed at an interval downward from the center inside the base, is horizontally elongated via the end from the base, and has its leading end fixed to the earth retaining wall.
