摘要： A system for handing off a mobile node includes a mobile node and a target agent. The mobile node can communicate with an anchor agent, and can also be handed off from the anchor agent. The mobile node can establish a physical-layer connection between the mobile node and a target base station associated with the target agent. Also, the target agent can establish a tunnel between the target agent and the anchor agent. Thereafter, the mobile node can establish a link-layer connection between the mobile node and the target agent via the anchor agent and the tunnel. Then, the mobile node can register with the target agent to thereby bind the mobile node to the target agent such that data packet(s) pass through the target agent, across the link-layer connection and the physical-layer connection, and independent of the anchor agent and the tunnel.

The system includes a network node, such as a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) proxy, located across a public network from the network including the terminal. The network node is capable of subscribing to a push service on behalf of the terminal such that the network node is also capable of receiving push content in accordance with the push service. Thereafter, the network node is capable of establishing a network-initiated data session with the terminal. In response to the network-initiated data session, the network node is further capable of registering the terminal such that the terminal is capable of receiving the push content based upon the registration.

摘要： A method is provided for transmitting data, wherein control packets are given priority with respect to application data packets. In general, this is accomplished by establishing a separate, distinct link flow over which only control packets (e.g., TCP control packets) will be transmitted. A higher priority is associated with this link flow. In addition, the reliability of control packets sent over the dedicated link flow can be improved upon by increasing the number of retransmissions associated with the control packets and/or decreasing the window of time before the retransmissions are sent. A system, mobile terminal, network entity, and computer program product for implementing the method are also provided.

摘要： Apparatus, and an associated method, for facilitating communication of data in a packet radio communication system to effectuate a packet communication service in which packet data is communicated at a variable, selectable rate. A detector embodied at an RLP layer detects channel allocations and channel reaollcations, granted to the mobile station to effectuate the data communication service. A report is generated at the RLP layer and forwarded to the TCP layer. At the TCP layer, selection is made of the TCP window to match the rate at which data is provided to the RLP layer to the rate, based upon the channel allocations provided to the mobile station, at which the data is communicated therefrom.
