    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable frequency signal generator and a variable frequency signal generating method which provide a light source of two wavelengths in which an interval between oscillation wavelengths changes due to strain, and creates a signal of a frequency corresponding to the interval between the oscillation wavelengths by beating two light signals of respective wavelengths.SOLUTION: A variable frequency signal generator includes: a light source creating a light signal; a resonator into which the light signal by the light source is input; a structure deformable due to strain; a first optical fiber grid which is disposed on the structure, is transparent to the light signal in a wavelength band including a first wavelength and a second wavelength, and is optically connected to the resonator; a second optical fiber grid which is optically connected to the resonator and filters out the light signal of the first wavelength and the second wavelength; and a photoelectric transducer which is optically connected to the resonator and creates a signal of a frequency corresponding to an interval between the first wavelength and the second wavelength. The interval between the first wavelength and the second wavelength accords to a degree of deformation of the structure.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for generating variable frequency signals that achieves a light source for two wavelengths whose interval between oscillation wavelengths varies by strain and generates a signal with any frequency corresponding to the interval between the oscillation wavelengths by beating optical signals with two wavelengths, and to provide a method therefor.
      SOLUTION: The apparatus for generating variable frequency signals includes, a light source, one or more resonators, a structure that can be modified by strain, first and second optical fiber grids, and a photoelectric converter. The first and second optical fiber grids filter optical signals of the first and second wavelengths among optical signals oscillating in the resonators. The first and second optical fiber grids may be a reflection type optical fiber grid to be provided onto the structure. In addition, the first optical fiber grid may be a phase transition optical fiber grid to be provided onto the structure, and the second optical fiber grid may be a reflection type optical fiber grid connected optically with the resonator. The photoelectric converter can generate a signal with any frequency corresponding to the interval between the first and second wavelengths.
