The total surface areas of the (110) faces in the crystals of these grains amount at least to 30% of the total surface areas of the crystals, where if each border of the 2 crystal faces is indistinct, for example, it is round, the intersection line of the 2 faces is assumed as the border of them.

    • PURPOSE:To ameliorate sensitivity to a fog relation by incorporating silver halide grains having crystal faces each having a ridgeline on its center and made of silver bromide or iodobromide in at least one of photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers formed on a support. CONSTITUTION:The silver halide grains substantially made of silver bromide or silver iodobromide and each having a crystal face [quasi-(110)face 1] having a ridgeline on the center of the (100)face 2 are incorporated in at least one of photosensitive silver halide emulsion layers formed on the support to obtain a silver halide photographic sensitive material. Said silver halide grains contains silver iodide, preferably, in the amt. of 0-20mol%, especially, 0-15mol% of the total silver halide. The preferable grain diameter of the silver halide grains (length of the cube equal in volume to the grain) is 0.1-3.0mum.

    • PURPOSE:To attain superior developability as well as to increase the sensitivity and sharpness by incorporating mixed silver salt crystals made of specified developable silver salt crystals into at least one silver halide (AgX) emulsion layer on a support. CONSTITUTION:A photogsensitive material is obtd. by forming at least one photographic AgX emulsion layer on the support with the photographic emulsion contg. mixed silver salt crystals made of developable silver salt crystals formed by epitaxial joining to host particles of silver iodobromide or silver bromide having (110) faces 1 and/or faces 2 each having a ridge 3 on the (110) face 1. The host particles have the increased selectivity of epitaxial joining because of their special surface properties, and the epitaxial parts which are latent image forming parts are restricted, so latent image forming sites are restricted to reduce loss due to the dispersion of a latent image. The sensitivity of the photosensitive material is increased, the sharpness is also increased by an edge effect, and the developability is improved.
