摘要： Proposed is a security system(1), comprising a first member (10) and a second member (20). The first member comprises a coding surface (11) with embedded coding information. The second member (20) is capable to cooperate with the first member, and comprises a laser diode (30) having a laser cavity (31) for generating laser radiation to illuminate the coding surface (11). Furthermore, the second member comprises a detector 5 (40) arranged to initiate a security function. The security systemis characterised in that the detector (40) is arranged to initiate the security function in responds to a measurement of a variation (35) in an operational characteristic of the laser cavity (31), the variation comprising the coding information and being due to the self-mixing effect of an optical wave (36) in the laser cavity (31) and back-reflected radiation (38) re-entering the laser cavity (31) 10 after reflection from the coding surface (11). Such a security systemcan in particular be used as a lock and key combination to prevent theft of valuable items from anenclosure.

摘要： A method for laser spot welding, whereby a laser beam is directed to the material to be welded, and whereby, during the welding operation, the surface temperature of said material at the spot of the weld is detected. The presence of a weld can be determined depending on the detected surface temperature after the laser beam is switched off. Furthermore, the power of the laser beam can be controlled depending on the detected surface temperature. To control the welding operation, also the reflected laser radiation from the spot of the weld can be detected.

摘要： A method and optical module for measuring relative movement of an input device and object (15) along at least one measuring axis. A laser device (3) having a laser cavity is provided for generating a measuring beam (13) in respect of each measuring axis. The measuring beam (13) is used to illuminate the object (15) and measuring beam radiation reflected from the object (15) and re-entering the laser cavity generates a self-mixing effect in the laser and causes changes in operation of the laser cavity. A detector (4) is used to generate a measurement signal representaive of these changes and an electronic processing circuit (18) selects, in dependence on the speed of relative movement, one of at least two parameters of the measurement signal for use in determining the speed and direction of relative movement.
