    • There is disclosed a method for removing bubbles from a slurry and a device therefor capable of efficiently optimizing the removal of bubbles from a slurry and the viscosity of the slurry as well as dramatically reducing the bubble removing time. The device for removing bubbles from a slurry comprises a hopper 1 for charging a predetermined amount of slurry 2 including liquid and a high concentration of solid material agitated and dispersed in the liquid with the slurry containing bubbles to be removed therein; a bubble removing unit 20 disposed downstream of the hopper 1 and having a bubble removing plate 10 disposed downstream of the hopper 1 for discharging the slurry 2 containing bubbles to be removed therein in the form of and noncontact filaments or noodles; a slurry tank 3 connected downstream of the bubble removing unit 20; a vacuum unit 30 for evacuating the slurry tank 3 when the bubble removing unit 20 is used; and an air introduction unit 40 for introducing air for pressure-delivering the slurry 6 which is contained in the slurry tank 3 from the bubble removing unit 20 with bubbles removed to the outside.

    • This method is a manufacturing method of a plugged honeycomb structure including porous partition walls which form a plurality of cells divided as channels of a fluid in the form of a honeycomb and a plugging portion formed at one opening end portion of a predetermined cell of a cylindrical honeycomb structure. Openings of all cells of a honeycomb structure are filled with a slurry-like plugging material. Separately, an image of end-surface cells of the honeycomb structure is picked up with a camera. A photo-setting or thermosetting resin film is attached to an end surface of the honeycomb structure in which all of the cells are plugged. After a plugging pattern is printed on the film, the honeycomb structure to which a printed film is attached is irradiated with light or heat by use of a light or heat source. In consequence, only target film portions are allowed to set. At cell portions which have not set, film portions which have not set are removed together with a plugging material with pressurizing air or sandblast.

    • Using a slurry filler having a container having an opening top and storing plugging slurry and a cover attached to the opening top of the container and having a flat upper face and through-holes communicating the inside and the outside of the container and being disposed to correspond to cells to be plugged on an end face of the honeycomb structure, the honeycomb structure is set on the cover by positioning so that opening ends of cells to be plugged of the honeycomb structure match positions of through-holes of the cover, and the plugging slurry stored in the container is filled inside opening ends of cells to be plugged through the through-holes to form the plugged portions. According to this manufacturing method, a plugged honeycomb structure having no defects can be manufactured at low costs for a short time without restriction on operation circumstances with less industrial waste.

    • A honeycomb structure comprising porous partition walls which form, by surrounding, a plurality of cells extending between the two ends faces of the honeycomb structure, and an outer wall formed integrally with the partition walls. The cells consist of partial cells of outermost peripheral portion, having incomplete cell sections, which are located at the outermost peripheral portion of the honeycomb structure and are in partial contact with the outer wall, and complete cells having a complete cell section, other than the partial cells of outermost peripheral portion. In the complete cells, a plugged part is formed at one end of each complete cell so that each end face of the honeycomb structure shows a checkerwise plugging pattern. In the partial cells of outermost peripheral portion to be plugged according to the above-mentioned plugging pattern, part of them is plugged in the entire length and formed integrally with the outer wall and remaining cells have each a plugged part only at one end.
