    • An electron beam deflection device for a cathode ray tube in which the power for deflecting an electron beam may be reduced easily and convergence may be adjusted easily. The electron beam deflection device has a horizontal deflection yoke and a vertical deflection yoke which are arranged at different positions relative to each other in the fore-and-aft direction. A first core constituting the horizontal deflection yoke is of a flat annular shape. The upper and lower inner surfaces of the first core operate as opposing magnetic poles. A second core constituting the vertical deflection yoke may be of a flat annular shape or of a circular or square annular shape. The forward or rear end of the first core or the forward or rear end of the second core is provided with a cut-out for adjusting the convergence.

    • A field emission cathode manufacturing method is provided which comprise the steps of forming a cathode electrode on a substrate; forming an insulative layer and gate electrode, each having fine holes formed therein, in this order on the cathode electrode; thereafter immersing them in a solution in which particles of an electron-emitting substance is dispersed; and electrically depositing particles of the electron emission substance on the cathode electrode facing the fine holes by an electrophoresis using the cathode electrode as a positive or negative electrode, thereby forming an electron emitter. The wet method is adopted to form the field emission cathode, which permits to considerably reduce the plant and equipment investment and manufacture even a large-screen FED with an improved yield. Also, since the electron missive substance particles are fully exposed, a very low accuracy is allowed in producing the electron emitter. Therefore, the field emission cathode manufacturing method permits to produce a large-screen cathode plate of which the electron emission characteristic will not be deteriorated, with a greater ease and an improved yield.

An optical recording medium driving apparatus for recording and/or reproducing data in/from an optical recording medium, where information can be recorded in plural tracks formed by land portions and groove portions provided between the land portions, based on a light emitted to the tracks. The apparatus includes a detector for detecting a position of the emitted light, a peak-hold circuit for holding a peak of a position detected signal outputted from the detector so as to output the position detected signal, a bottom-hold circuit for holding a bottom of the position detected signal so as to output the position detected signal, and a switching circuit for switching signals based on the output signals from the peak-hold circuit and bottom-hold circuit so as to output either signal.
