    • A method of producing a liquid developer which comprises an insulation liquid and toner particles dispersed in the solution is provided. The method comprises the steps of: preparing a kneaded material containing a coloring agent and a resin material; dispersing the kneaded material into an insulation liquid to obtain a molten state kneaded material dispersed liquid in which the kneaded material in a molten state is finely dispersed; and cooling the molten state kneaded material dispersed liquid to solidify the molten state kneaded material; wherein the insulation liquid contains as its major component an unsaturated fatty acid. According to the method, it is possible to provide a liquid developer in which toner particles having a small particle size distribution and a uniform shape are dispersed so that properties of each component of the toner particles can be exhibited sufficiently. The liquid developer mentioned above is also harmless to environment.

    • A liquid developer comprised of toner particles having excellent fixing properties to a recording medium is provided, and a liquid developer in which toner particles having uniform shape and small particle size distribution are dispersed is also provided, and further a method of producing a liquid developer capable of producing such a liquid developer efficiently is also provided. In particular, a producing method capable of producing such a liquid developer as described above in a method harmless to the environment is provided. The liquid developer producing method is a method for producing a liquid developer which is comprised of an insulation liquid and toner particles dispersed in the insulation liquid and is characterized by comprising the steps of: a water-based dispersion liquid preparing step for preparing a water-based dispersion liquid, the water-based dispersion liquid comprising a dispersoid comprised of a material containing a resin material and a water-based dispersion medium constituted from a water-based liquid in which the dispersoid is dispersed; a dispersion medium removal step for removing the dispersion medium to obtain toner particles; and a dispersing step for dispersing the toner particles into the insulation liquid.

    • Disclosed are a two-component type developer which is supplied to an area where a bias voltage of at least 250 V is applied, and a developing process using this developer. In this developer, by adjusting the particle size distribution of carrier particles within a specific range, occurrence of the so-called carrier dragging phenomenon of the transfer of the carrier together with the toner to a photosensitive material can be prevented. This adjustment of the particle size distribution is such that the content of carrier particles having a size smaller than 250 mesh is less than 8% by weight based on the entire carrier particles, the diameter D.sub.50 of the weight average particle size corresponding to 50% of the weight of the entire carrier particles is in the range of from 80 to 120 .mu.m and the difference between D.sub.25 and D.sub.75 is in the range of from 5 to 20 .mu.m.

    • A liquid developer includes an insulation liquid containing a fatty acid monoester and toner particles comprised of a resin material, the resin material containing a first resin component and a second resin component of which weight-average molecular weight Mw2 is larger than a weight-average molecular weight Mw1 of the first resin component. The first resin component and the second resin component are characterized in that the weight-average molecular weight Mw1 of the first resin component is in the range of 3,000 to 12,000, the weight-average molecular weight Mw2 of the second resin component is in the range of 20,000 to 400,000, and when an amount of the first resin component contained in the resin material is defined as A (wt %) and an amount of the second resin component contained in the resin material is defined as B (wt %), A and B satisfy a relation: 1.0≦A/B≦9.0. The liquid developer described above is harmless to the environment. Further, the liquid developer also has superior preservability and storage stability and superior fixing characteristics at a low temperature. An image forming apparatus that can suitably use such a liquid developer is also provided.

    • A liquid developer contains an insulation liquid containing as its main component a glyceride of an unsaturated fatty acid, toner particles dispersed in the insulation liquid; and an oxidation polymerization accelerator for accelerating oxidation polymerization reaction of the glyceride during fixing process of the toner particles. The oxidation polymerization accelerator accelerates the oxidation polymerization reaction by supplying oxygen during the fixing process of the toner particles. The liquid developer may further contain an antioxidizing agent. Preferably, the oxidation polymerization accelerator is contained in the insulation liquid being encapsulated.
