The press pin (10) includes a flange (11), a shaft (12) extending from the flange (11) and a fixing part (13) extending from the shaft (12). The plate-shaped nut (20) includes through holes (21) with each inside diameter larger than each outside diameter of the shaft (12) of the press pin (10) for penetration of the press pin (10). The plate member (30) (e.g., an automobile body panel) includes fixing holes (31) to receive the fixing parts (13) of the press pins (10). Forcing the shafts (12) of the press pins (10) into the fixing holes (31) of the plate member (30) fixes the press pins (10) to the plate member (30) and so fixes the nut (20) as to be shiftable to the press pins (10) and the plate member (30).

The apparatus for fastening a self-dipping type rivet is provided with: a position measuring instrument 39 for measuring relative position between the nose piece 18 and the punch 22; an instrument 41 for measuring the punching force to the punch 22; a unit (42) which prepares and reserves a table for relative positional changing amount to the pushing force with respect to the changing amount of the relative position between the punch and the nose piece changed to reaction of the die against the pushing force of the punch based on the data from the position measuring instrument and the pushing force measuring instrument; and the unit (42) for correcting the pushing force to the punch by referring to the table for the relative positional change amount to the pushing force.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect not only a riveting error that can be detected with an existing detection method, but also a different kind of riveting error from the aforementioned error with reference to a self-piercing rivet.
      SOLUTION: With reference to the riveting apparatus of the self-piercing rivet, an upper limit normality characteristic curve 37 that defines an upper limit of a normal riveting range and a lower limit normality characteristic curve 38 that defines a lower limit of the normal riveting range are provided on a graph showing a riveting stroke and a riveting load on a X-Y coordinate system in order to detect the riveting error of the self-piercing rivet, and the error is detectable with the existing method. Between the upper and lower limit normality characteristic curves, displayed are upper and lower limit abnormality characteristic curves 39, 41 obtained from another riveting error different from the aforementioned error. The detection device detects a different kind of riveting error when a plotted curve 45 of data value measured during riveting exists in between both the curves.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an arc welding method capable of easily welding in a short period of time the outer peripheral surface of a collar along and all over the peripheral edge of a through-hole of a plate-shaped member.
      SOLUTION: An outer cylindrical part 13 of a collar 10 is formed into a truncated conical form, where a part in one end side of the outer cylindrical part 13 passes through a through-hole of the plate-shaped member, and a part in the other end side of the outer cylindrical part 13 has a second diameter unable to pass through the through-hole of the plate-shaped member. The collar 10 is set so that the part in one end side of the collar 10 passes through the through-hole and the outer peripheral surface of the middle part of the collar 10 is brought into contact with the edge of the through-hole (4A). A gap G is made by separating the part of the outer cylindrical part 13 of the collar 10, which part is in contact with the edge of the through-hole, from the edge of the through-hole. In the gap G, a pilot arc of a small electric current and then a main arc of a large electric current are generated (4B). Thereby, the edge part of the through-hole of the plate-shaped member and the outer peripheral surface of the collar are melted, and the molten outer peripheral surface of the collar and the edge part of the through-hole are press-welded (4C).
