    • An artificial jointless foot comprises a wooden core forming an upper connecting surface with an elastic synthetic material connected to the wooden core for forming the foot shape and guaranteeing a flexible rolling action. The wooden core forms, on the connecting surface, a dorsal stop for an adaptor connectable to the stop. Deformation of the connecting surface in the region of the dorsal stop is prevented, even when wood not resistant to such load is used for the wooden core. The wooden core has, in the region of the dorsal stop, a recess open at the top and filled with a duroplastic cast resin, the surface of which is in line with the connecting surface.

    • An artificial foot and ankle joint including a foot part having a plastic impregnated upper surface portion, an ankle part having a lower plastic impregnated articulation surface and a bifurcated joint connecting the two. The bifurcated joint has a lower part which contains an articulation axis and is connected into the foot part through the plastic impregnated surface portion of the foot part. The bifurcated joint also has an upper part generally U-shaped in cross-section which contacts the articulation axis from below. The upper part of the bifurcated joint is connected to the ankle part through the plastic impregnated recessed articulation surface of the ankle part. An elastic articulator is provided between the ankle part and the foot part and has a central opening for receiving the lower part of the bifurcated joint. The articulator has only a front dorsal projection and side rotation surfaces for cooperation with the plastic impregnated articulation surface of the ankle part. A separate exchangeable resilient member is provided between the ankle part and the foot part and behind the articulator for dorsal plantar flexion.

    • A prosthetic foot includes a core of incompressible material which has a bottom side sloping upwardly from a toe region towards the rear end of the foot, a wedge-shaped heel element which is applied to that bottom side and formed of a soft, resilient material and a casing portion which is made of hard but resilient synthetic plastic material and shaped so as to form a toe region, a sole and a protective casing of the foot prosthesis. The synthetic plastic material of the casing portion forms an envelope completely wrapping the core and the wedge-shaped heel element at the lateral sides thereof.

    • A braked knee joint having a thigh part and a lower leg part which are provided with braking surfaces adapted to one another and which, because of the capacity for axial movement of the thigh part relative to the lower leg part, are pressed against one another during loading. The braking surfaces essentially have a contour which is circular in vertical section and which has a constant radius relative to the rotational axis. The joint includes a suitable stop to produce a jerk-free termination of the extension movement of the knee joint out of the flexed position. The stop is formed by providing the braking surface of the thigh part with a front end piece which is at a distance which increases from the rotational axis and is greater than the constant radius, and by providing a corresponding front end piece of the braking surface of the lower leg part so that, with increasing extension of the knee joint in the unloaded condition, a constantly increasing area of the braking surfaces comes into frictional contact and this forms the stop.
