    • A memory apparatus having a rewritable nonvolatile memory, and a control circuit. The memory apparatus brings logical addresses into correspondence with physical addresses of the nonvolatile memory and retains a piece of number-of-rewrites information for each logical address. The control circuit can perform a replacement process of a piece of memory information on the nonvolatile memory. In the replacement process, a given logical address judged to have a small number of rewrites based on the number-of-rewrites information is replaced so as to correspond to a different physical address and then data is transferred according to the replacement. Even when data of the logical address smaller in the number of rewrites is assigned to the different physical address, the number of rewrites of the region is still grasped as the number of rewrites of the logical address. The data of the logical address is maintained in a condition such that it can be easily targeted for the rewrite by the replacement process even in the place to which the data is transferred. Thus, a memory cell is made less prone to accumulatively suffering disturb owing to rewrite.

The memory system is provided with a nonvolatile memory having a plurality of data blocks in predetermined physical address units and a controller for controlling the nonvolatile memory in response to an access request from outside. Each of the data blocks has areas for holding a rewrite count and error check information regarding each data area. The controller, in a read operation on the nonvolatile memory, checks for any error in the area subject to the read according to error check information and, when there is any error, if the rewrite count is greater than a predetermined value, will replace the pertinent data block with another data block or if it is not greater, correct data in the data block pertaining to the error.

With this control, the intake air amount of the engine is increased so that the stop position of the piston coincides with the desired position.

    • An evaporative fuel-processing system for an internal combustion engine includes a canister for adsorbing evaporative fuel generated in the fuel tank, a charging passage, a pressure-regulating valve for regulating pressure within the fuel tank to a predetermined value, a bypass passage, a bypass valve for opening and closing the bypass passage, a purging passage, an open-to-atmosphere passage for relieving the interior of the canister to the atmosphere, a tank system formed by a part of the charging passage on one side of the bypass valve closer to the fuel tank, inclusive of the fuel tank, and a pressure sensor for detecting pressure within the tank system. An ECU opens and closes the bypass valve at cold starting of the engine, and compares the difference between output values from the pressure sensor obtained before and after opening of the bypass valve with a predetermined value. Presence of leakage from the tank system is checked based on the result of the comparison.

    • An idling rotational speed control system for an internal combustion engine installed in a vehicle including an air-fuel ratio sensor arranged in the exhaust system, and an ECU which corrects the air-fuel ratio of an air-fuel mixture supplied to the engine in a feedback manner responsive to an output from the air-fuel ratio sensor, by using an air-fuel ratio correction amount calculated according to the output from the air-fuel ratio sensor. The ECU determines whether the idling rotational speed control system is abnormal, based on the detected rotational speed of the engine and a control parameter used for the control of the rotational speed of the engine during idling. The idling rotational speed control system includes at least one of a brake system operation sensor for detecting operation of the brake system, and a throttle valve opening sensor for detecting opening of the throttle valve. When at least one of conditions is satisfied that the brake system is operated, the opening of the throttle valve exceeds a predetermined value, and the air-fuel ratio correction amount falls outside a predetermined range, the abnormality determination is inhibited.

    • A control system for an internal combustion engine controls a fuel injection amount based on operating conditions of the engine and an evaporative fuel concentration-dependent correction coefficient. The control system includes a purge control valve arranged in a purging passage connecting a canister for temporarily storing evaporative fuel generated from a fuel tank and an intake passage. This coefficient is held to a predetermined value for a predetermined time period after purging is permitted, and to another for a predetermined time period after purging is inhibited. In another aspect, the purge control valve is controlled based on operating conditions of the engine and a purging flow rate correction coefficient. This coefficient is held when purging is inhibited, and is progressively set to a larger value depending on the evaporative fuel-dependent correction coefficient, after purging is permitted. In another aspect, when a vehicle on which the engine is installed is started, the purge control valve is controlled based on a special purging control amount which is progressively increased based on a parameter related to a standing start of the vehicle. In another aspect, the operation of the purge control valve is inhibited for a predetermined time period dependent on a temperature of the engine, after the start of the engine.
