    • A scroll type compressor comprising mutually mating stationary and movable scroll members, a drive shaft, a counterweight, a slide key extending from the drive shaft, and a drive bush slidably fit on the slide key. The counterweight is immovably fit on the drive shaft. The slide key has a first axis offset from the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft for causing the movable scroll member to revolve around the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft, and a second axis perpendicular to the first axis. The drive bush is movable along the second axis of the slide key or the guide portion to a smaller extent in one direction by which the eccentricity between the longitudinal axis of the drive shaft and the longitudinal axis of the drive bush is increased, and to a greater extent in the other direction by which the eccentricity is decreased.

    • A mechanism for allowing the orbital movement of an orbiting scroll with respect to a fixed scroll in a scroll type compressor which prevents the orbiting scroll from rotating around its own axis is disclosed. The orbiting scroll is eccentrically attached to a rotary shaft supported by a housing that encases the fixed and orbiting scrolls. A compression chamber is defined by the interfitting between the orbiting scroll and the fixed scroll. During the course of the orbiting scroll's rotation around the center axis line of a rotary shaft, the volume of a compression chamber decreases as the rotation progresses. Refrigerant gas in the compression chamber is compressed in this manner as the constant volume of gas within the compression chamber decreases in size according to the progression of the rotating spiral member. A balancing weight disposed on the eccentric shaft compensates for dynamic unbalancing generated as the orbiting scroll makes an orbital movement due to the rotation of the rotary shaft. This balancing weight engages a bushing which supports the orbiting scroll. A mechanism for automatically adjusting the radius of the orbital movement is disposed between the rotary shaft and the balancing weight. A spring for restricting the shifting on the eccentric shaft of both the weight and the bushing in the thrust direction is disposed between the weight and the bushing.

    • A scroll type compressor comprises a fixed scroll having an end plate and a spiral element. The spiral element of the fixed scroll is integrally coupled to the inner wall of a housing. A movable scroll has an end plate and a spiral element, and faces the fixed scroll, with a plurality of fluid pockets formed between the movable scroll and the fixed scroll. When the movable scroll makes an orbital movement around the axis of the rotary shaft, refrigerant gas is led into the fluid pockets from outside the movable scroll. As the fluid pockets move toward the center of the movable scroll the fluid pockets decrease in volume, thereby compressing the refrigerant gas. A suction chamber which receives the refrigerant gas from outside the housing is formed between the movable scroll and the inner wall of the housing. A passage is formed in at least one of the inner wall of the housing, the connecting section and the end plate of the movable scroll. This passage permits the refrigerant gas to flow into the fluid pockets from the suction chamber in order to reduce any difference in pressure of the refrigerant gas in the suction chamber and in the fluid pocket.

    • The scroll type compressor includes a stationary and orbiting scroll members, of which the spiral elements are interfit at an offset angle to form line contacts defining at least one fluid pocket, and an anti-spin mechanism for causing the orbiting member to orbit within the stationary member. A drive shaft is rotatably supported in a housing, and has an outer end a cylindrical inner end and, depending upon the embodiment, either a crank pin or a sliding guide portion projecting axially inward from its inner end. A drive bush couples the drive shaft to the orbiting scroll member, and has either a circular aperture for receiving the crank pin or an engaging slotted recess for receiving the sliding guide portion, as the case may be, whereby the drive bush is either pivotable or slidable with respect to the drive shaft. A counterweight is mounted on either the crank pin or the sliding guide portion between the drive bush and the drive shaft, and is coupled to the drive bush for conjoint movement therewith. The counterweight has a cylindrical recess for receiving the cylindrical inner end of the drive shaft, with a clearance maintained between the radially inner perimeter of the recess and the radially outer perimeter of the inner end of the drive shaft, so as to allow the drive bush and counterweight either to pivot relative to the crank pin or to slide relative to the sliding guide portion, depending upon the embodiment.

    • A compressor has a movable scroll supported on a bushing connected to a rotary shaft via an eccentric pin. The movable scroll and the bushing are disposed coaxial to the eccentric pin to rotate together with the eccentric pin. The movable scroll moves along a predetermined circular path around an axis of the rotary shaft to closely contact a fixed scroll, opposed to the movable scroll at a given portion to define a displaceable fluid pocket and compresses refrigerant gas introduced into the fluid pocket. The compressor comprises a first balance weight eccentrically supported on the eccentric pin for an integral rotation therewith. The first balance weight is arranged to generate first centrifugal force counteracting second centrifugal force generated in the movable scroll and the bushing based on the rotation of the movable scroll and the bushing. The first balance weight has a weight in a predetermined ratio to weights of the movable scroll and the bushing to cancel substantially 80 to 97 percents of the second centrifugal force with the first centrifugal force. Thus, the movable scroll is kept to move along the predetermined circular path.

    • Disclosed is a compressor which has a fixed scroll and a movable scroll. Defined between both scrolls is a compression chamber in order to provide compressed gas. A pressure receiving member receives compression reaction force of the compressed gas. A base plate is provided on the movable scroll. A plurality of first recesses are provided in the pressure receiving member, with the first elements fitted into the first recesses respectively. The second surface of the ring has a plurality of second elements circumferentially spaced and provided at predetermined intervals. A plurality of second recesses are provided in the base plate, with the second elements fitted into the second recesses respectively. When the movable scroll revolves, the first and second elements move within the first and second recesses to prevent rotation of the movable scroll and the ring. To transmit the compression reaction force of the gas acting on the movable scroll to the pressure receiving member, the first and second surfaces of the ring are provided with a plurality of projections protruding toward the pressure receiving member and the base plate and having substantially spherical engagement surfaces to engage therewith.
