    • A method and apparatus for weaving a thick fabric. The method comprises the steps of providing a plurality of vertically stacked layers of textile weave, and weaving a set of wefts into the layers of textile weave. This weaving step, in turn, includes the steps of, for each of the plurality of layers, (i) forming a warp shed from the textile weave of the layer, and (ii) inserting one of the wefts into the formed warp shed. This weaving step is repeated a multitude of times to form the thick fabric. Each of the layers of textile weave forms a cloth fell; and the method of this invention further includes the step of vertically moving the layers of textile weave to position the cloth fell of each of the layers at a standard pre-selected weft inserting position when one of the wefts is inserted into the warp shed formed in that layer.

    • In a device for spotting with ink which comprises a plurality of hollow cylinders each having a small aperture at the end thereof and means for holding the hollow cylinders in parallelism to one another and for sliding movement axially of the cylinders, there is provided an ink reservoir member disposed within each of the hollow cylinders and containing ink therein, and a spotting member disposed within each of the hollow cylinders with one end thereof engaged with the ink reservoir member and the other end projected from the small aperture. The spotting member is formed of an elastic material having a number of communication pores for directing the ink therethrough from the one end to the other end of the spotting member.

    • The present invention provides a CFRP-made optical cylinder comprising, as the main CFRP layers, (a) CFRP layers containing a carbon fiber arranged in a direction substantially parallel to the cylinder axial direction and (b) CFRP layers containing a carbon fiber arranged in a direction making an angle of substantially.+-.(40.about.50) degree to the cylinder axial direction, in which cylinder at least 50% by weight of the carbon fiber arranged in a direction substantially parallel to the cylinder axial direction has a linear expansion coefficient of -1.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C. or less and at least 50% by weight of the carbon fiber arranged in a direction making all angle of substantially.+-.(40.about.50) degree to the cylinder axial direction has a linear expansion coefficient of -1.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C. or less, and which cylinder has a linear expansion coefficient of -0.5.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C. to 0.5.times.10.sup.-6 /.degree.C. in the axial direction. In the present optical cylinder, the influence by the change in atmospheric temperature is very small. Further, in the production of the present optical cylinder, it has no distortion when subjected to heating and subsequent cooling to room temperature for molding, because it is well balanced in rigidity and strength.
