摘要： A method for collecting data to measure market-share for a defined telecommunication market. A market of interest is defined and a random panel of numbers is created. A call set-up is initiated to the created random panels by generating signaling messages wherein the signaling messages access a Calling Name Services (CNAM) database, a Local Number Portability (LNP) database, an E-911 Automated Location Information (ALI) database and a Line Information Database (LIDB) using signaling system 7 (SS7) protocol. Generated signaling messages access ENUM (Telephone Number Mapping) database and Internet Protocol (IP) Peering database using IP. The response to the generated signaling messages are used to determine assignment status, business ownership, businesses versus residential status and the technology employed for a given number in the created panel. In one embodiment, the process is repeated over a period in order to determine changes to the market-share and derivative metrics for the telecommunication market.

The method includes selecting a panel of numbers, generating signaling messages for the selected panel, sending the generated signaling messages, receiving a response from plurality of databases and processing the received response to determine market information. In one embodiment, the response is an electronic serial number (ESN) of a wireless device. Processing the ESN may determine the manufacturer of the wireless device, the model of the wireless device and its corresponding serial number. As such; the market-share of manufacturer of the device, its corresponding market-share for a given model, and the number of unsold wireless devices may be determined. Tracking the selected panel of numbers may determine the lifespan of a device and the relationship between providers and replacing or acquiring devices. It is appreciated that identifiers other than ESN may be used (e.g., IMEI in GSM technology).

摘要： A biosensor, sensor array, sensing method and sensing apparatus are provided in which individual cells or randomly mixed populations of cells, having unique response characteristics to chemical and biological materials, are deployed in a plurality of microwells formed at the distal end of individual fibers within a fiber optic array. The biosensor array utilizes an optically interrogatable encoding scheme for determining the identity and location of each cell type in the array and provides for simultaneous measurements of large numbers of individual cell responses to target analytes. The sensing method utilizes the unique ability of cell populations to respond to biologically significant compounds in a characteristic and detectable manner. The biosensor array and measurement method may be employed in the study of biologically active materials, in situ environmental monitoring, monitoring of a variety of bioprocesses, and for high throughput screening of large combinatorial chemical libraries.
