    • An apparatus and a method for providing a character deletion function is provided. A plurality of deletion items having respective designated deletion schemes are displayed, when there is a request for a deletion mode while inputting characters. It is determined if a Drag event occurs after a Press event occurs in an area where one of the plurality of deletion items is displayed. It is determined if a Release event occurs when the Drag event occurs. A deletion function in a deletion scheme corresponding to a deletion item having an area where the Release event occurs is performed when the Release event occurs. Accordingly, a user has convenience with which, when inputting characters, the user receives various deletion schemes and can perform a desired deletion function in a simple way.

    • Provided is a character input method and apparatus. The character input method includes assigning character groups, each of which includes at least two characters, to at least two key regions generated by dividing a region of the touch screen and displaying the character groups in the corresponding key regions, based on one-to-one correspondence, if a press event occurs in one of the key regions, enlarging and displaying characters included in the key region where the press event occurs, determining whether one of a release event and a drag event occurs in one of the key regions where the characters are displayed enlarged, if it is determined that the drag event occurs, indicating the key region where the drag event occurs according to distance and direction of the drag event, and if the release event occurs in the indicated key region, outputting characters included in the indicated key region on the touch screen.     • An apparatus and method for analyzing the spectrum of a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical signal, in wavelength division multiplexing (WDM) optical transmission systems, are provided. An optical filter includes an input unit for receiving a wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) optical signal via an optical transmission medium and outputting optical signals that have different incidence angles according to the wavelengths of the optical signals. Also, the optical filter includes a filter for receiving the optical signals from the input unit and separating the WDM optical signal into optical signals having different wavelengths using the difference between resonance lengths according to the different incidence angles. In order to analyze the spectrum of an optical signal, the optical signal is made incident upon etalon at different incidence angles according to the wavelengths of the optical signal, and the resonance length between two mirrors of etalon is varied according to the wavelengths of the optical signal. Accordingly, an optical spectrum can be obtained by detecting optical signals having different wavelengths.

    • There is provided a reference wavelength setting device in an optical channel monitoring module having a variable filter, comprising: a reference wavelength provider with a light emitting device for outputting wide-band light upon receipt of a driving voltage; a light emitting device driver for switching the driving voltage to the light-emitting device upon the receipt of an emission-on signal; a fiber grating for reflecting only the light at the reference wavelengths from the wide-band light received from the light emitting device; an optical distributor for feeding the wide-band light received from the light-emitting device to the fiber grating and outputting the light at the reference wavelengths reflected by the fiber grating; and, an optical coupler for outputting the light received from the reference wavelength provider to the variable filter.
