    • There are provided an image-forming device and method for varying an elongation rate of a basic image in at least one of a direction of length of the basic image and a direction of width of the basic image based on a specific elongation pattern to thereby form a deformed image from the basic image, as well as a printing apparatus incorporating the image-forming device. Elongation data of the elongation pattern is stored. Basic image data representative of the basic image is developed into a dot matrix. Each dot line of the basic image data extending in at least one of directions corresponding respectively to the direction of length of the basic image and the direction of width of the basic image is duplicated based on the elongation data. A dot line generated by duplication of the each dot line is added between the each dot line and a following dot line adjacent to the each dot line.

    • There are provided a method and apparatus for printing a print image on a print material by using a print head based on dot information of the print image by causing at least one of the print head and the print material to move to thereby effect relative motion between the print head and the print material at a relative speed dependent on a rotational speed of a DC motor as a drive source. Driving of the DC motor and the print head is controlled for printing of the print image. A distance from a predetermined length start position selected from a front end position, a print start position, and a print end position of the print material to a predetermined length end position at which the relative motion is to be terminated, is set to a predetermined length. Braking of the DC motor is controlled by varying a braking load on the DC motor in dependence on the relative speed and the predetermined length so as to terminate the relative motion at the predetermined length end position.

    • A heat exchanger for use in an automobile air conditioning system is disclosed. A condenser as the heat exchanger comprises a plurality of flat tubes for conducting refrigerant and a plurality of corrugated fins fixedly sandwiched between the flat tubes. First and second cylindrical header pipes are fixedly and hermetically connected to the interior of the flat tubes, and are provided with inlet and outlet union elements respectively for connecting the condenser to the other elements of the air conditioning system. Each of the header pipes is provided with a partition plate in order to turn the direction of the flow of the refrigerant, thereby obtaining the effective heat exchangeability of the condenser. The partition plate includes large and small semicircular portions. A semicircular slot is formed at a certain portion of each of the header pipes in order to place an arcuate periphery of the large semicircular portion on a lower surface thereof. A semicircular groove is formed at an inner peripheral surface of each of the header pipes opposite to the slot in order to place an arcuate periphery of the small semicircular portion on a lower side surface of the groove. Accordingly, even when the condenser receives an external impact in an assembling process thereof, an undesirable inclination of the partition plate can be prevented. Thereby, the partition plate can be fixedly disposed within the header pipe to prevent communication between upper and lower sections within the header pipe and leakage of refrigerant from the condenser to the atmosphere.

    • A developing unit is provided with developers, toner supply pipes, a drive mechanism, a position holding mechanism, and a retraction mechanism. Each of the plurality of developers has a development roller that corresponds to a color. Each toner supply pipe has a toner supply port and supplies toner to one of the plurality of developers. The drive mechanism moves the toner supply pipes so that each toner supply pipe can be positioned at a toner supply position and a retraction position. The position holding mechanism restricts the movement of the toner supply pipes so that one of the toner supply pipes is positioned at the toner supply position. If the electric power is cut off such that one of the toner supply pipes is positioned at the toner supply position, then the retraction mechanism releases the restriction of movement of that toner supply pipe and positions that toner supply pipe at the retraction position.
