    • A focus detecting apparatus has, an imaging optical system for forming an image of an object on a predetermined plane, an array having a plurality of photoelectric conversion elements arranged at predetermined interval, a focus detecting optical system for directing to the photoelectric conversion element array the light beam from the object passed through the imaging optical system, and discrimination apparatus for discriminating the imaged condition of the image of the object on the predetermined plane on the basis of the signal output of the image of the object spatially sampled at a predetermined sampling interval by the focus detecting optical system and the photoelectric conversion element array. The focus detecting optical system and the photoelectric conversion element array are disposed a predetermined distance in the direction of the optical axis from the predetermined plane so that the imaged condition of the image of the object on the predetermined plane is different from the imaged condition of the image of the object spatially sampled by the photoelectric conversion element array.

    • A photometric device for a through the lens type exposure meter in a single lens reflex camera. The reflecting mirror provides a region transmitting a part of the light rays incident thereon. The light passing through said region is reflected by a reflecting-concentrating member and received by a light receiving member, the surface of which is adjacent to the film and disposed on or in the vicinity of the optical axis of the phototaking lens. The reflecting-concentrating member is disposed to substantially cover the photometry range of the film and the optical axis of the reflecting-concentrating member is substantially coincident with the optical axis of the phototaking lens.

    • This specification discloses a focus detecting optical device for photoelectrically effecting focus delection by the use of two restricted light beams passed through different areas in the pupil of a phototaking lens in a single lens reflex camera including a finder screen capable of imaging the light beam from the phototaking lens and a pentaprism having reflecting surfaces capable of reflecting a light beam passed through said screen toward an eyepiece lens system having an optical axis substantially orthogonal to said screen. The optical device is provided with light splitting means for splitting a light beam in a direction substantially parallel to the optical axis on that side on which the eyepiece lens system is positioned from a light beam passing from the finder screen to the first reflecting surface of the pentaprism, light distributing means for distributing the split light beam in two directions to provide the two restricted light beams, a first and a second detecting lens system disposed in opposed relationship with each other for receiving the two restricted light beams distributed by the light distributing means, first and second direction changing means for directing the lights passed through the first and second detecting lens systems in directions passing through the opposite sides of the eyepiece lens system, and a first and a second photoelectric conversion element provided at positions capable of receiving the lights directed by the first and second direction changing means.
