摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a process unit provided detachably attachable to the apparatus; a driving source provided inside the apparatus and outside the process unit; a power transmitter to transmit a driving force from the driving source; a rotary member provided inside the process unit, the rotary member being rotated by the driving force from the driving source transmitted through the power transmitter. The apparatus further includes a detector to detect a state of rotation of the rotary member, and to output a signal corresponding to the state of rotation of the rotary member; and a judging member to judge a rotation abnormality of the rotary member on the basis of the signal output from the detector.

摘要： An image forming apparatus includes a sequence memory to store a sequence of an initialization processing to be conducted only at an installation of the apparatus, an adjuster to adjust the apparatus in accordance with the initialization, an apparatus status indicator to indicate whether the apparatus is new or not. The apparatus further includes a controller so that the adjuster adjusts the apparatus on the basis of the status of the indicator. A judging device judges whether to continue or stop the initialization process on the basis of a predetermined state of the apparatus such as whether a process unit is new or old or whether a cover is attached to a photoreceptor or not.

摘要： An electrophotographic copying machine capable of inserting an inter-sheet in a copy of a document. A width-detector is provided to detect the width of an inter-sheet contained in an inter-sheet tray. A judging circuit determines if the detected width of the inter-sheet is within an allowable width range. If the detected width is not within the allowable width range, the inter-sheet is inhibited from being fed and reminder information is displayed. If the inter-sheet is required to be blank with no image of the original recorded thereon, an automatic document feeder is controlled so as to stop feeding the original sheet while the inter-sheet is conveyed to be placed at the insert-page. The adjustment of copy image density, including scanning of the original sheet, is also stopped.

A plurality of sheets serially fed out from a sheet tray are concurrently transported along the sheet path. A sheet is fed out from the sheet tray in response to a timing reference signal generated in response to the scanning operation for a previously fed out sheet.

The photoelectric converter photoelectrically coverts data of an original into image signals. The automatic document feeder feeds and places the first original document on a platen glass table where the first document is exposed to light.
