摘要： A multilayer film is placed on a subatrate. The multilayer film includes an antiferromagnetic layer, a pinned magnetic layer, a non-magnetic material layer, and a free magnetic layer. The multilayer film has recessed sections arranged in both side regions thereof, the recessed sections being formed by partly removing the multilayer film in a vacuum. The bottoms of the recessed sections are located between the upper face and lower face of the antiferromagnetic layer. Amorphous barrier layers with a thickness of Å are placed on the bottoms of the recessed sections, the amorphous barrier layers being formed in the same vacuum as that for forming the recessed sections sequentially to the step of forming the recessed sections.

摘要： A fixed magnetic layer contains a first magnetic layer formed on a non-magnetic metal layer. The non-magnetic metal layer is composed of an X—Mn alloy (where X is selected from Pt, Pd, Ir, Rh, Ru, Os, Ni, and Fe). While atoms forming the first magnetic layer and atoms forming the non-magnetic metal layer are being aligned with each other, strains are generated in the individual crystal structures. By generating the strain in the crystal structure of the first magnetic layer, the magnetostriction constant λ is increased. As a result, a magnetic sensor having a large magnetoelastic effect can be provided.

摘要： By a QTL analysis and so forth using 4-HPPD inhibitor-susceptible rice and 4-HPPD inhibitor-resistant rice, a hypothetical gene (HIS1 gene) of an iron/ascorbate-dependent oxidoreductase gene located on a short arm of chromosome 2 of rice has been identified as a 4-HPPD inhibitor-resistance gene. Further, it has also been revealed that a homologous gene (HSL1 gene) of the HIS1 gene is located on chromosome 6 of rice. Furthermore, it has been found out that utilizations of these genes make it possible to efficiently produce a plant having increased resistance or susceptibility to a 4-HPPD inhibitor and to efficiently determine whether a plant has resistance or susceptibility to a 4-HPPD inhibitor.

摘要： A method for modifying a surface of a polymer such as a thermoplastic resin is provided, in which a supercritical fluid, especially carbon dioxide in a supercritical state is used as a solvent, and the polymer surface is further converted to have highly advanced function or high performance in a short period of time. In the method for modifying the polymer surface of the present invention, a solute is previously applied to the polymer surface. Accordingly, the solute can be permeated into the surface of the polymer swelled by the contact of the supercritical fluid. When this method is used, it is possible to permeate the solute into the polymer at a high concentration in a short period of time.
