    • This invention discloses a lubricating mechanism of a hermetically sealed scroll type compressor in which an inner chamber of a housing is kept at suction pressure. The compressor includes a drive shaft supported by a first plain bearing in an inner block member. The drive shaft is operatively linked to an orbiting scroll which orbits within a stationary scroll. A rotation preventing device prevents rotation of the orbiting scroll. The drive shaft includes an axial bore extending from an open end and terminating within the inner block member. A pin extends from the end of the drive shaft to the orbital scroll and is supported in a bushing within an extension of the orbiting scroll. A second plain bearing supports the bushing. A passage links the axial bore to an opening at the end of the pin facing the orbital scroll. A radial bore is provided near the terminal end of the axial bore to link the axial bore to a suction chamber of the compressor. A first helical groove is formed in the exterior surface of the supported portion of the drive shaft. The first helical groove is linked to the axial bore through a radial hole formed through the supported portion of the drive shaft. A second helical groove is formed in the exterior surface of the bushing. Fluid flows through the radial bore and through the narrow passage to lubricate the rotation preventing device. Fluid flows through the first helical groove to lubricate the friction surface between the drive shaft and the first plain bearing. Fluid flow through the second helical groove to lubricate the surface between the bushing and the second plain bearing.

    • A front housing (20) has a shaft hole (210) and an oil path (20a) communicating with a crank chamber (15) and the shaft hole to lubricate a bearing supporting a drive shaft (3) and and a shaft seal contained in the shaft hole. A lubricating oil in the crank chamber (15) is scraped by the rotation of the drive shaft (3). An oil trap (19) is formed at one end of the oil path (20a) to effectively collect the lubricating oil which is supplied through the oil path (20a) to the shaft hole (210). The oil trap (19) is formed by a part of a first thrust race (201b) and an oil receiving groove (20g). The first thrust race (201b) has a plurality of finger portions (201d) bent towards a bottom surface of an annular groove (204) formed in an internal wall surface of the front housing (20). The annular groove (204) has a plurality of fitting holes (20h) for receiving the finger portions (201d) therein in one-to-one correspondence. The finger portions (201d) are fitted into the fitting holes (20h) to thereby inhibit the rotation of the first thrust race (201b).

    • A refrigerant wobble plate type compressor is disclosed which includes pistons for being reciprocated within respective cylinders by a wobble plate member. The wobble plate member is adjacently disposed and relatively rotatably borne on an inclining surface of an inclined rotor member. The inclined rotor member is secured on an inner end of a drive shaft. First and second end plates are mounted on one end and an opposite end of a compressor housing respectively. The first end plate comprises inlet and outlet ports, and defines discharge and suction chambers. The drive shaft is rotatably borne in the second end plate and extends from the exterior to the interior of the compressor housing. A first anti-friction thrust bearing assembly is mounted between an inner end surface of the second end plate and an opposite end of the inclining surface of the inclined rotor member. A second anti-friction thrust bearing assembly is mounted between the inclining surface of the inclined rotor member and the end surface of the wobble plate member facing the inclining surface of the inclined rotor member. The second anti-friction thrust bearing assembly comprises first and second annular race members and an annular rolling element cage assembly. The first annular race member is fixedly disposed on the end surface of the wobble plate member, and the second annular race member is disposed on the inclining surface of the inclined rotor member.

    • A rotation-preventing/thrust-bearing device for use in an orbiting-member fluid displacement apparatus is disclosed. The rotation-preventing/thrust-bearing device includes a discrete fixed portion, a discrete orbital portion and bearing elements. The fixed portion includes a fixed race and ring placed in a groove in an inner surface of the housing. The fixed race and ring are attached to the housing by pins, and the inner peripheral edge of the groove is caulked to the fixed ring. The orbital portion includes an orbital race and ring placed in a groove in an end plate of the orbiting member. The orbital race and ring are attached to the end plate of the orbiting member by pins, and the outer peripheral edge of the groove in the end plate is caulked to the orbital ring. A plurality of pockets are formed axially in the rings toward the respective races. The pockets of the rings face one another in generally aligned pairs. A bearing element is received in each aligned pair of pockets to prevent the rotation of the orbiting member by the bearing elements interacting with the orbital and fixed rings and to carry the axial thrust load from the orbiting member. The rotation of each ring, which is caused by protation-preventing operation, is prevented by both the pins and the caulked connection.
