    • This invention provides a scroll type fluid machine which can simultaneously realize the stabilization of the behavior in the rotational direction of an orbiting scroll and the reduction in the manufacturing cost by the ease of holding a grease. In the scroll type fluid machine, three pairs of rotation prevention mechanisms are provided between a casing and an orbiting scroll. The rotation prevention mechanism is constituted of first and second ball coupling mechanisms having a function different from each other. The first ball coupling mechanism supports the thrust load of the orbiting scroll. Meanwhile, the second ball coupling mechanism supports the rotation force of the orbiting scroll.

    • In a seal system for a scroll type fluid machine, a seal mechanism is provided between a backpressure plate and a holder, so as to surround an orbiting backpressure chamber. The seal member comprises a seal attachment groove, a seal member and a Y-shaped packing. The seal attachment groove is stepped on its outer circumference to define a shallow bottom portion. The seal member includes, on its outer circumference side, a cutout portion matching the shallow bottom portion. The Y-shaped packing is disposed between a deep groove peripheral wall of the seal attachment groove and the cutout portion of the seal member, and a backpressure chamber is defined on a reverse surface side of the seal member. By this arrangement, a slide surface of the seal member can be larger than an effective area of the backpressure side of the seal member. Thereby it is possible to reduce a difference between a load Ff acting on the slide surface and a load Fb acting on the reverse surface.

    • The present invention provides a scroll type fluid machine which enables both of a fixed scroll and an orbiting scroll to be cooled by means of a cooling fan, and which enables an overall size of the machine to be compact. Cooling fans 38A and 38B are connected to a rotary shaft 18 between an electric motor 15 and orbiting scrolls 26A and 26B. Outer cases 3A and 3B are provided with flow inlet openings 42A and 42B, flow outlet openings 43A and 43B, scroll ducts 44A and 44B and cooling device ducts 46A and 46B. Compression portions 6A and 6B are operated by rotatably driving the rotary shaft 18 using the electric motor 15. In this instance, the cooling fans 38A and 38B are rotated with the rotary shaft. Therefore, with a simple structure having no electric fans, the fixed scrolls 7A and 7B, the orbiting scrolls 26A and 26B and the cooling device 47 can be efficiently cooled, and a compressor having a compact size and a high cooling performance can be formed.
