    • A reinforcing structure is integrally formed on a front wall of a cylinder block of shallow water jacket type. The reinforcing structure comprises mutually crossing vertical and lateral ribs. The vertical rib extends vertically between upper and lower deck portions of the cylinder block, and the lateral rib is constructed to constitute a raised ridge of a front one of jacket bottom wall. Alternatively, the reinforcing structure comprises a raised bolt boss that is integrally formed on a front one of jacket bottom walls to catch a connecting bolt used for securing a middle portion of a front cover to the front wall.

    • An information recording-reproducing apparatus includes carrier rollers arranged in a carriage path having a width almost equal to a diameter of a large diameter disc, and a mechanical side switch PSW at one peripheral end of the carriage path. First and second optical detectors are arranged in the carriage path at an interval smaller than a diameter of the small diameter disc. The first optical detector and the side switch are arranged at an interval larger than the diameter of the small diameter disc, while the second optical detector and the side switch are arranged at an interval smaller than the diameter of the small diameter disc. The type of the disc as well as difference between the disc and an object other than the disc are determined based on the detection signals from the optical detectors and the side switch.

    • A navigation apparatus for a movable body which assists in moving with a map while at least displaying the map is provided. A first information storing medium stores map data corresponding to the map thereon. A detecting device detects displayed map data corresponding to the map already displayed at least once from the first information recording medium. Then, a recording device records the displayed map data detected by the detecting device on a second storing medium, which has higher access speed than the first information storing medium.
