    • There are disclosed a multi-color injection molding process for producing an ink-jet printer member comprising a plastics substrate and an elastic material layer that are integrally composited, which comprises melt-injecting into a mold in turn, a material for a plastics substrate and an elastic material composed of a thermoplastic elastomer; and an insert molding process for producing the ink-jet printer member mentioned above, which comprises placing in advance, a plastics substrate of a prescribed form in a mold, and melt-injecting an elastic material composed of a thermoplastic elastomer into said plastics substrate. The above processes are well suited for the production of the ink-jet printer member such as an ink tank valve for supplying a recording head with an ink to be filled in an ink chamber, also of a sealing member which is installed at an ink supply port or on the main body of an ink-jet printer and prevents an ink from leaking through the ink supply port or through the recording head.

    • A recording head of an ink-jet-recording apparatus has a plurality of nozzles, a plurality of pressure chambers connected to the plurality of nozzles respectively, and an ink saving chamber connected to the plurality of the pressure chambers for supplying ink into the pressure chambers and for temporarily saving the ink. An ink way is connected to the ink saving chamber for supplying the ink into the ink saving chamber. A driver causes respective pressures in the pressure chambers to change in such a manner that the ink is jetted from the nozzles so as to carry out flushing operations of the nozzles. A flushing controller causes the driver to carry out the flushing operations so that a flushing operation for a pressure chamber arranged relatively further from the ink way is delayed in starting for a predetermined time with respect to a flushing operation for another pressure chamber arranged relatively closer to the ink way. Thus, new ink is easily and sufficiently supplied into the pressure chamber arranged relatively further from the ink way during the flushing operation. This reduces the difference in viscosity of the ink in different portions of the ink saving chamber. Therefore, in the flushing operations, a sufficient volume of ink may be respectively jetted from the nozzles communicating with the pressure chambers, even if the pressure chambers are arranged far from the ink way.

Wiping or rubbing is performed by the cleaning member (18) during a period of time when the two portions are sucked, the cleaning control device (20) slects at least one of the first, second and third cleaning modes on the basis of data of the timers (25) and (26) in accordance with a cleaning instruction, the three modes being used automatically selectively in accordance with the situation of the recording head (7) to thereby perform cleaning.
