    • A soldering apparatus wherein lead pins of a part inserted from above in through-holes of a printed circuit board are soldered to the through-holes from below. The soldering apparatus comprises a solder supplying nozzle, a preliminary heating nozzle and a flux nozzle. Each of the nozzles has an opening and a pair of slits formed to extend downwardly from the opening. The nozzles are moved upwardly and downwardly in a Z direction by respective elevators and are moved and positioned in X and Y directions by a moving table. A printed circuit board to which a lead part to be soldered is temporarily fastened is disposed on the nozzles. As the moving table and the elevators are controlled so that the lead pins projecting to the rear face of the printed circuit board pass through the slits of the nozzles from sidewardly, application of flux to and preliminary heating of the lead pins are performed, and soldering of the lead pins is performed with molten solder supplied to the opening at the upper portion of the solder supplying nozzle.

    • A toggling, dual state magnetic latch is provided for a disk file rotary head positioner rotatably mounted relative to the base and includes a voice coil for rotary displacement within a magnetic field provided by an actuator voice coil permanent magnet. The latch comprises a latch pin formed of a ferromagnetic material located on an arm extending from the voice coil of the actuator; a latch mounting pivot pin mounted to the base, a latch body rotatably mounted to the latch mounting pivot pin and positionable between an unlatched position and a latched position, the latch body including a toggle portion carrying a latch permanent magnet and including a counterweight portion located generally oppositely of the toggle portion for carrying counterweight for counterweighting the latch body about an axis of rotation aligned with the latch mounting pivot pin, a bias force mechanism including the voice coil permanent magnet for applying a predetermined bias force to the latch body in order to maintain it at the unlatched position, the latch body and the latch pin being so located that as the latch pin moves in a direction toward the latch body and reaches a predetermined distance to the latch permanent magnet, the bias force is rapidly overcome, and the latch body toggles to a latched position such that the latch pin is directly adjacent to the latch permanent magnet when the actuator has positioned the data transducer head at a landing zone on the storage disk.

    • In a disk drive, a stationary air guide for channeling windage flowing proximate a surface of a single rotating disk toward an air vane of an air vane actuator latch. The air guide has two members, a first member is positioned partially over an upper surface of the disk and a second member is positioned partially over a lower surface of the disk. The air guide members are proximate the respective surfaces in a spaced apart parallel relation thereto. Each air guide member further contains a shrouding member that maintains the air flow near the disk surface and a channeling member that channels the air flow toward the air vane. As such, windage from the rotating disk is channeled to a distal end of the air vane such that sufficient torque is produced by the windage from the single rotating disk to unlatch the latch mechanism.
