    • PURPOSE: To prevent the deformation, etc., of nozzles owing to the thermal stress thereof by changing the combustion rate of radiant tubes and changing at the same time the gas flow rate from the nozzle prior to the change of a strip thickness.
      CONSTITUTION: The fuel supply rate from the combustion burners of the radiant tubes 4 is decreased before the stage of changing conditions in the stage of decreasing a heating rate when the thickness of the strip 1 decreases. On the other hand, the supply of a high temp. gas to a pebble heater 11 is stopped and gaseous NH is supplied from the bottom of the heater 11. The gaseous NH is increased in temp. by contacting with pebbles 10 up to the max. temp. in a short period and such high-temp.l gas is supplied to a plenum chamber 2. The gas heater to the high temp. is supplied gradually by as much as the quantity corresponding to the quantity of heat deficient for heating. As a result, the thermal deformation and breakdown of gas jet nozzles 3 by the effect of high temp. are prevented.

The combustion rate of the burner of the tubes 4 is increased when the thickness of the strip 1 increases. Gaseous HN is at the same time supplied from the bottom of a pebble heater 11 through a duct 13 and the gas heated to a high temp. is supplied to a plenum chamber 2. The gas is injected from gas jet nozzles 3 to the strip 1 so that the strip 1 attains the prescribed temp. in a short period. Part of the gaseous HN is bypassed when the thickness of the strip decreases. The mixing ratio of the gas in the heater 1 is then adjusted and the gas of low temp. is supplied in a short period.

    • PURPOSE: To obtain a titled heating device for controlling quickly a heating temperature in accordance with a variation of a heat load quantity by constituting it so that a gas jet device is provided extending from an appropriate area of the rear part of a heating zone to a heating area, and a gas for controlling a plate temperature is jetted to a metallic strip.

As for said gas jet device, its front end part becomes the front end of the rear area of said heating zone 14 corresponding to 20W30% of a heat load variation quantity, and on the other hand, its rear end part is provided extending over the last part of the heating area, or on the whole of the soaking zone 15. When annealing the metallic strip 11, a plate temperature is controlled quickly by jetting a gas which has been set to the necessary temperature and flow rate, to the metallic strip 11, in accordance with a setting change of a heat cycle, a line speed, a plate thickness, etc.
