摘要： A process cartridge detachably mountable to a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, wherein said main assembly includes a motor, a main assembly side gear for receiving driving force from said motor and a hole defined by twisted surfaces, said hole being substantially coaxial with said gear, said process cartridge includes an electrophotographic photosensitive drum; process means actable on said photosensitive drum; a projection engageable with said twisted surfaces, said projection being provided at a longitudinal end of said photosensitive drum, wherein said projection is non-twisted, and when said main assembly side gear rotates with said hole and projection engaged with each other, rotational driving force is transmitted from said gear to said photosensitive drum through engagement between said hole and said projection; and a resilient member for urging said process cartridge in a longitudinal direction of said photosensitive drum when said process cartridge is mounted to the main assembly.

摘要： An assembling method of a process cartridge detachably mountable to an image forming apparatus includes providing a drum frame, supporting an photosensitive drum and having first and second engaging portions above the electrophotographic photosensitive drum, one adjacent each longitudinal end of the electrophotographic photosensitive drum; and providing a developing device frame supporting a developer, and having first and second compression springs above the developer, one adjacent each longitudinal end of the developer, and first and second projected portions projected in a direction crossing with a longitudinal direction of the developer, one adjacent each longitudinal end of the developer. The first and second projected portions are engaged with the first and second engaging portions, respectively. A first penetrating member is penetrated through a first opening formed in the first projected portion and a third opening formed in the first engaging portion, and a second penetrating member is penetrated through a second opening formed in the second projected portion and a fourth opening formed in the second engaging portion, while the projected portions and the engaging portions are engaged with each other.

The process cartridge includes; a cartridge frame, an electrophotographic photosensitive member provided within the cartridge frame, a process device for acting on the electrophotographic photosensitive member, a memory device for storing information to be transmitted to the electrophotographic image forming apparatus, a positioning portion for positioning the cartridge frame with respect to the image forming apparatus when the process cartridge is mounted to the image forming apparatus, and an exposure opening provided in the cartridge frame and to pass information light from the image forming apparatus to be illuminated on the electrophotographic photosensitive member when the process cartridge is mounted to the image forming apparatus.
