    • A radio-frequency identification system includes (a) responders each having a unique identification number, (b) an interrogator making an inquiry to and receiving a response from each of the responders, and (c) a host computer controlling communication made between the responders and the interrogator, and binary-searching a number space of the identification number of each of the responders for identifying a responder(s) existing in a communication area in which the responders and the interrogator can make communication with each other. The host computer has a function of acting as a discriminator for generating a control signal in accordance with first to N-th (N≧2) communication areas in each of which the responders and the interrogator can make communication with each other, binary-searching the number space in each of the first to N-th communication areas one by one to identify a responder(s) existing therein, and inactivating the thus identified responder(s).

    • In one embodiment a wireless communication device is provided that: acquires a phase rotation angle in the propagation channel which phase rotation angle is contained in a received symbol and that performs rotation compensation of the acquired phase rotation angle for the received symbol; generates a coordinate value of the respective I, Q axis in the signal constellation on which the information of the respective reference signal point is set; for the respective transmission bit, obtains respective probabilities that the transmission bit is 0 and 1 by making a distance determination of the distance between the received symbol after the rotation compensation and the respective reference signal level on only one of the I and Q axes; and makes a likelihood determination of the bit value of the respective transmission bit in accordance with a probability value obtained.

    • An authentication apparatus is provided. The authentication apparatus acquires a plurality of pieces of registration authentication information each of which is unique to an authentication target. These pieces of registration authentication information are based on biological information obtained from different and the same kind of parts of a living body of a registered user. The authentication apparatus also acquires biological information from a part of the living body selected by a user, and then generates personal authentication information based on the biological information acquired. The authentication apparatus subsequently arranges a collation order of the plurality of pieces of registration authentication information, and then sequentially collates the plurality of pieces of registration authentication information with the personal authentication information in accordance with the collation serial numbers. After that the authentication apparatus notifies an external section of the authentication target whose registration authentication information corresponds to the personal authentication information as an authentication target successfully authenticated.
