    • This invention relates to a data transmission method or the like for use in transmitting video data, audio data or the like. There is transmitted a serial digital transfer interface transmission packet in which an interval of each line of a video frame comprises an end synchronizing code area into which an end synchronizing code is inserted, an ancillary data area into which ancillary data is inserted, a start synchronizing code area into which a start synchronizing code is inserted and a payload area. Into the payload area, there are inserted first data containing extension data having stream information and second data containing main data comprising video data and/or audio data at the picture unit of video data. The stream information is information which indicates whether or not the picture unit belongs to a pre-roll interval located ahead of an editing interval, whether or not the picture unit belongs to an editing interval and whether or not the picture unit belongs to a post-roll interval located behind an editing interval. A reception side becomes able to positively edit data on a VTR, for example, by effectively utilizing the stream information.

    • A data recording and reproducing apparatus which can easily perform the editing of audio and/or visual data even at the camera site. In the data recording and reproducing apparatus, a VTR portion and an MO disc portion are integrally constituted. Audio and/or visual data input from an outside apparatus is recorded on a video tape by the VTR portion, and further reproduced from the video tape and transferred to the MO disc device at a high speed and recorded. The user of the data recording and reproducing apparatus quickly finds the desired video image by actively utilizing the random access property of the MO disc device and sequentially inputs the same to the VTR device, records the same on the video tape, and performs the editing of the audio and/or visual data.

    • An image display device has a front case provided with a phosphor screen on an inner surface thereof; a rear case facing the front case; a sealing portion with which the front case and the rear case are hermetically sealed so that an airtight chamber is formed between the inner surface of the front case and an inner surface of the rear case; and a cathode board including a cathode which is disposed within the airtight chamber and faces the phosphor screen and a wiring pattern for applying a voltage to the cathode.     • A projection cathode ray tube (CRT) includes a multilayered interference film interposed between a face plate pane and luminescent material layer. This multilayered interference film is composed of alternately superimposed of high refractive index material layers and low refractive index material layers, and the number of layers to be superimposed is four or five. By using a multilayered interference film of only four or five layers, the interference layer is not subject to cracks or film separation occurring during heat processing, due to the difference in thermal expansion coefficients between high and low refractive index material. Further, there still remains enough layers to produce a display highly improved in brightness in the direction of the normal of the face plate pane of the CRT.
