SOLUTION: The method for producing a cyclohexyl alkanol represented by formula (III) (wherein R 1 is a 2-4C hydrocarbon; R 4 is a 1-4C hydrocarbon group, provided that when R 1 is an isopropyl group, R 4 is always a methyl; and R 5 is hydrogen or a 1-4C hydrocarbon) comprises obtaining a carbonyl compound represented by formula (II) [wherein R 1 and R 4 are the same as defined above and R 2 is hydrogen, a 1-4C hydrocarbon group or OR 3 (wherein R 3 is hydrogen or a 1-10C hydrocarbon group)] with the use of a carbonyl compound represented by formula (I) (wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same as defined above) and thereafter reducing the carbonyl compound.
