    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To identify an arbitrary photoluminescent pigment by collating an image feature quantity of the photoluminescent pigment with a database of brands.SOLUTION: The identification method includes: a first process of acquiring image data by imaging the photoluminescent pigment; a second process of performing background processing on the acquired image data, and extracting image data of a vicinity part of one particle of the photoluminescent pigment including the particle as image data to be processed; a third process of extracting an image feature quantity from the image data to be processed; a fourth process of performing the processing of the first to third processes on a plurality of kinds of photoluminescent pigments and creating a database in which information associated with the photoluminescent pigments and extracted image feature quantities are made to correspond to each other in advance; a fifth process of performing the processing of the first to third processes on the photoluminescent pigment to be identified and extracting an image feature quantity of the photoluminescent pigment to be identified; and a sixth process of identifying the photoluminescent pigment to be identified through the database based upon the extracted image feature quantity of the photoluminescent pigment to be identified, the image feature quantity including a feature quantity showing the color of the photoluminescent pigment.
