    • A bicycle cable disc brake is provided with a cam assembly that has improved efficiency during movement under high pressure. Basically, the cable disc brake has a cable housing, a pair of friction members and an actuated mechanism. The first friction member is movably coupled to the caliper housing between a release position and a braking position. The second caliper is also coupled to the caliper housing and arranged substantially parallel to the first friction member to form a rotor receiving slot therebetween. The actuated mechanism is movably coupled to the caliper housing to move the first friction member from the release position towards the second friction member to the braking position. The actuated mechanism has a pair of cam members movably arranged between an axially retracted position and an axially extended position with a guide member interconnecting the cam members during movement between the axial retracted position and the axially extended position. In the preferred embodiment, the guide member is a guide pin that extends from one of the cam members and is received in a bore of the other cam member.

    • A brake lever arm is mounted to a base member, with the base member fixed to a bicycle handlebar. The lever arm is pivotal about a pivot point on the base. The lever arm includes an adjusting mechanism that is slidable in grooves formed on the lever arm such that the adjusting mechanism may be selectively moved to a plurality of positions located at differing distances away from the pivot point. An adjusting screw extends through a portion of the base and, in one embodiment, contacts a portion of the adjusting mechanism. In another embodiment, the adjusting screw contacts a portion of the lever arm. Movement of the adjusting screw allows for positioning of the lever arm to define a brake dis-engagement position. The adjusting mechanism includes a contact member that is contactable with a brake cable connected to the lever arm. Depending on the adjustment of the adjusting screw and the adjusting mechanism, when the lever arm is located in the brake dis-engagement position, the cable does not contact the contact member. The cable contacts the contact member as the lever arm is moved from the brake dis-engagement position to a brake engagement position. The position of the contact arm with respect to the pivot point determines the amount of leverage of the lever arm effects on the cable.

    • A bicycle brake device is disclosed for coupling onto either front or rear forks of a bicycle. The brake device is preferably has a pair of brake arms which are pivotally coupled to either the front or rear forks by a pair of mounting members. The mounting members are design to be installed on conventional mounting posts which can be attached to either a brake arch or directly to the fork. The brake arms have their pivot pins spaced upwardly and outwardly from the mounting posts brake arch or the fork to improve the braking force. Also, in a parallel push type of brake device, the position of the pivot pins increases the horizontal dimension of the linkage to reduce wobbling.
