    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a segregation from arising by a method wherein an intermediate liner which is movable in parallel with a bottom part liner is provided in the vertical direction, and the intermediate liner is lowered in steps from the upper location, and a specified divided amount which is charged at each step, is received. SOLUTION: For a mold 1, an intermediate liner 5 is attached to a hanging rod 6 in a manner to be vertically movable along a core bar 4 while keeping a surface which is in parallel with the surface of a lower liner 2. First, the intermediate liner 5 is set at the upper location of a rubber side wall 3, and a compounding substance is charged onto the intermediate liner 5 from the top of the mold 1, and is filled in a space with the mold side wall. 3. Then, for a next filling, the intermediate liner 5 is lowered. The filling amount of the compounding substance for one filling is made an amount to a location which is lower than the upper end surface of the mold 1, and the compounding substance is thoroughly filled so as not to lean to one location. By repeating the operations for lowering the intermediate liner 5 and filling the compounding substance, the intermediate linear 5 is lowered to the lowermost part, and a required blending amount is filled.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnesia-spinel brick capable of applying as a refractory for a vacuum degassing furnace, excellent in slaking resistance and hardly causing structural spalling accompanied with slag wetting. SOLUTION: A brick structure is coated with a silica deposited layer by impregnating or coating the magnesia-spinel brick with a colloidal silica solution and then drying to leave, stick and deposit a silica component on the surface and the inside surface of pores of the magnesia-spinel brick. The silica deposited layer plays a role in isolating the brick structure from the contact with the outdoor air and prevents the hydrating reaction of magnesia. Moreover, the silica component deposited on the surface and the pore inside wall of the brick easily reacts with a liquid component entering from outside such as a slag, in the case that the liquid component such as the slag enters into the pores in the course of operating furnace, to increase the viscosity of the liquid component and thus the silica component has an action of preventing the slag or the like from entering further into the inside.
