    • A heat ray absorbing composite material comprising a base layer made of a transparent material, a top layer made of a transparent material, and an interlayer formed between the layer, wherein the interlayer is constituted of a resin component and at least one infrared absorbing component selected between the following components (a) and (b): (a) metallic ions comprising cupric ions, and (b) granular metal oxides comprising iridium oxide, tin oxide or both. When the interlayer contains metallic ions comprising cupric ions as the infrared absorbing component, it is preferable that a compound having a phosphorus-acid group selected among phosphoric esters and phosphonic esters be also contained in the interlayer. This composite material has the property of interrupting or damping near infrared rays or rays of light having wavelenghts longer than those of infrared rays, exhibits high transmittance for visible rays, and can easily realize satisfactory heat resistance and surface hardness.

    • An absorber for the rays of light out of a visible region, which comprises a transparent resin base containing conductive zinc antimonate anhydride and at least one of the following three infrared ray absorbents a-c, wherein transmissivity is high in a visible region and low in both ultraviolet region and infrared regions: a) metal ions comprising bivalent copper ions; b) particulate metal oxide comprising indium oxide or tin oxide or both of them; c) phthalocyanine compound. Such an absorber may alternatively comprise a transparent base on which is provided either an absorptive layer for rays of light out of a visible region which contains conductive zinc antimonate anhydride and at least one kind of substance selected from the above a-c in the synthetic resin of the base or an absorptive layer for rays of light out of a visible region which comprises an accumulated body of particulate metal oxide formed of anhydrous zinc antimonate anhydride and indium oxide, tin oxide or both thereof.
